Yeah but you had to be in Calgary, surrounded by Calgarians to do it. I’ll pay $8/L to avoid that. |

FYI: https://bit.ly/3JTrlDO The government will introduce a new policy to ensure the federal government buys from Canadian suppliers, require local content when domestic suppliers are unavailable, extend this approach to all federal funding streams and Crown corporations, and provide a roadmap for provinces and municipalities to apply similar standards to their own procurement,” reads a news release from the Prime Minister of Canada. Carney will also be introducing a series of other measures “for workers and businesses in those sectors most impacted by U.S. tariffs and trade disruptions.” A strong, confident workforce A new Strategic Response Fund Immediate liquidity relief Assisting Canada’s canola and agriculture producers Regional Tariff Response Initiative Further driving Canada’s economic transformation will be the government’s recently-launched Major Projects Office. Oh god I hate those sort of headlines: "Carney just declared ECONOMIC WAR!" Holy hyperbole. This is no different to USA's "Buy America Act" which has been in place for decades. |

Every project I've ever worked on, and company I have worked with has a Local/Indigenous Content Policy, which states, among other things, that we will do our utmost to hire people as close to the project as possible. In addition to that we sign IBA's with local stakeholders, etc. The fact that the Federal Government announcing something like this makes headline news as being so great, is actually appalling. |
Buy Canadian but won't hire Canadian :troll::joy: at least trump deports them |

My friends in Calgary own an investment property in Aspen Woods... some huge ass house completely done out in crazy material and walk in wine cellar blah blah blah... they rent it to a major oil company executive, more than $10k a month and he doesn't even pay it, just a company expense. Pretty nice life when you get paid millions and also don't even have to pay for your house either. What a bunch of poor guys just trying to get by, can't possibly lower prices! |

Taxes are for the middle class, not CEOs |
I think at that level they do all kinds of shenanigans like hes' actually employed and paid from another country or whatever? All kinds of loopholes. If he were Canadian he'd have to claim the house payments as a benefit kinda like if you use a company car for personal use I think? |
I think the saying goes 'If you have to ask, then you aren't a member'. |
It’s a taxable benefit, you need to offer these to convince top talent to relocate to calgary instead of texas |
