Just rememered we traded Schneider to get Horvat. I wonder how Schneider's career would have looked if he was retained by Vancouver. Was mad at Gillis for trading Schneider away but glad he did, I'd take Horvat over Schneider 10 times out of 10.
Haha ya everyone was pretty much choked when that trade happened but on a hindsight we definitely should’ve gotten more at that time butit worked out for the best
I should look back at the trade on youtube just to read the comments lmao
I mean Luongo had already expressed his desire to be traded, so it made no sense to trade Schneider in his mid-20s (generally just entering prime years for a goaltender) to keep the aging vet who wanted out.
We ended up losing both of them in a calendar year.
Getting Horvat out of it and Schneider having injury woes over much of the time since the trade certainly makes it look substantially better for us, but judging trades via hindsight is bad practice.
Obviously the trade was contingent on whether Horvat was available or not. Now he’s our captain. Yes it was a risk but a calculated one that has paid off.

Most hockey players are pretty boring during interviews, always with the same cliche statements. Bieksa’s a rare exception, and Anson Carter was a really good speaker too.

i had this exact conversation with a friend on saturday. players grew up watching players be boring and awkward their whole childhoods too lol. only some of them are able to let their character's out and be entertaining for interviews.
I'm sure in many cases they just let their "conditioning" take over since they don't really care:
"everyone played hard tonight"
"1 game at a time"
"it's a process"
"gotta take the positives and move on"
etc

Hindsight, should've taken the Edm deal. Draft Horvat and still had an extra pick.
Also, Schneider might be able to push Edm ahead enough so they couldn't win the draft lottery and get McDavid. lol
Shit sportsnet 650 shit the bed, they let go Jawn Jang and Rick Dhaliwal. Why Rick though? he's the best inside guy. Watch TSN scoop him up.
Rick eh fuck yea he was great in the mornings... he might have just been making too much as a veteran guy unfortunately..
Jawn, i called that months ago.. the guy was another Bro Jake, a radio personality with not very extensive knowledge of sports, his segments when Sat wasnt there would just drag on and on.

Tyler Hirose from Salmon Arm. Announcers pronouncing it all wrong. Then again, if dude is as banana as most third and fourth generation Japanese Canadian are, he probably pronounces his name that way, as well.
Like teriyaki, kobe, and other Japanese words caucasians can't pronounce correctly. Actually, it happens often with other languages. Like Himalaya, is always pronounced incorrectly. Anyway, carry on carrying on.
