We already know the govt. has lied to the general public on multiple occasions during covid, yet people are just willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on everything :/
I’m not saying there will be any problems with the vaccine or there is some conspiracy behind it but this eagerness to blindly accept whatever the govt. spews out as gospel is kinda fucked..
When the very “experts” everyone quotes can’t even come to a consensus on things I don’t think you’re some conservative asshole trump lover because you question a view point?

The "government" isn't approving the vaccines. It's the FDA, Health Canada which are supposed to be non-politicized and staffed by medical professionals. If it was a politician telling me that vaccines are safe then yeah, I'd like to hear what a doctor has to say. Unless of course you buy into the ridiculous conspiracy that doctors are using COVID to "make more money".

Neither of which have been deemed safe or authorized for use by health Canada yet. So trudeau is telling Canadians it is safe by spending Canadian money on unproven vaccines. Now I doubt there will be an issue with them, but the point is there. Governments are signing up for the vaccines and buying tens of millions of doses and then proving they meet health guidelines after the fact. In that order.

Usually takes years of trials to be deemed safe. Soooo would you rather sit around for 2 yrs when every country pop champagne with losers posting how they are COVID free on social media?
Every government is putting on a huge risk; after all, if it's proven to have major side effects... huge lawsuits are coming.... Imagine you grow a 2nd penis, can't have kids, huge cancer issues post vaccine in 2030...

We talk about how the US is so polarized ... just look at it here.
So even raising a very reasonable question or concern about something as huge as a Covid vaccine automatically puts you in the other extreme camp ??!! This is what some people don't quite see - in one thread they rail against the CPC and their authoritative, one sided, no option way of life. In another thread, they shit on people with a different opinion and hammer their one and only 'right' view here in a democracy.

Society is slowly turning people into extremists and social media is a huge reason why. Its easy to find people online who share your way of thinking. Before.you know it, you're in an echo chamber and you become more and more inflexible in your position.
If you disagree in any shape or way, you get labelled. Trump supporter, conspiracy theorist, critical thinker, anti vaxxer, covid denier, etc. People need to check themselves.

Yeah it's kind of weird being lumped in with trumptards because I want to know more about the vaccine. I am probably about as far left as it gets before you get to crazytown, and I just want to know more. Also I try to explain why people have their doubts. How is that "not thinking critically"? And how does that mean I am "moving goalposts" (seriously we're at that part of the conversation already?)

My friend made a good point, she said while we don't know if there are any long term issues with the vaccine, we do know there are many long term effects of covid, even if you have a mild case, so for her, taking the vaccine doesn't seem like a problem, especially if you're an older person who may not have decades left in the bank
