bros - we don't make vaccines.

what country is going to make it, and export it to us (in any meaningful supply) before giving it to their own population first.

who are you mad at? do you really think the prime minister by himself ever had a chance to get more than we are getting? his biggest mistake in this situation is simply not just saying that outright.

save your political opinions for the other thread, and frankly pick from a plethora of other bad political moves. no Canadian government was going to get a single extra dose than this one no matter who is running it. we have no leverage.

be mad that we don't make shit, because we as a population (up until now) are happy to import the goods that we need from countries that are willing to make them cheaper.

Of the top 10 vaccinated countries, only 2 actually make the vaccines.

Israel -

Quote:
The health minister, Yuli Edelstein, said in an interview on Friday that Israel had entered into negotiations with drugmakers as an “early bird,” and that the companies were interested in supplying Israel because of its H.M.O.s’ reputation for efficiency and gathering reliable data.
Quote:
Israeli officials have not publicized the exact number of vaccine doses that it has received so far, or how much it paid for them, saying the agreements are confidential. But if it turns out that Israel overpaid compared to other countries, Mr. Edelstein said, the cost would still be worth it even to reopen the Israeli economy one week earlier than it otherwise could have done.
Politics very much plays a role in this whether you want to admit it or not.

And on top of that, not only has our supreme leader orettt clearly not done everything in the governments power to acquire vaccines, he doesn’t even know when they are coming when they do, that’s weird lying to the public again? That’s necer happened under his regime..

Maybe scheer would have been able to call his boss at the insurance office and got us the vaccines? Or traded some oil no one wants. Trudeau has done some dumb shit, and some decent shit, but to think our vaccine situation is his fault is just scapegoating to push your politics. If we got the vaccines and paid too much most of the same people would be saying “JuStinE TurdEau WastINg R taX dollARs”
This is why politics is so fucked. It doesn’t matter the result. Most of the “other side” thinks you’re a fuckup regardless.

Yah as much as politicians are all, at some level, self serving fucks... their job is like being the referee of a sports event... no matter what they do one side is screaming bloody murder about the result.

On the one hand, opposition is yelling about Pfizer not delivering vaccines due to a plant retooling. Then on the other hand, the opposition is also yelling about getting some from Covax. You just can't win. I guess that is why they are called 'opposition', that's their job to oppose whatever the government in power is doing.

If the conservatives had us in the same situation I’d be saying the same thing.

It’s not a left or right issue, it’s an issue with pathetic govt. that Canadians continue to just accept and be ok with. Like, we’re Canada, we can do better.

whether it's Dr. Henry, Trudeau, Singh, etc. really doesn't matter what their affiliation is with, the criticism would be just as harsh

if we had the means to create vaccines domestically we should've put our weight behind it 6 mos ago, not wait for delays then looked surprised that 7 other billions also want it before considering constructing the facilities to create them

Dr. Henry's Covid update for the past weekend:

1236 new cases (428 + 465 + 343)
13 deaths
69 in ICU

-increase in Covid variant (mix of UK and South African) from 24 to 40 cases in the past two weeks.

-rollout of Astra Zeneca halted in South Africa. I found out about this article today:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/astraze...in-11612700385

JOHANNESBURG—South Africa said Sunday it would temporarily halt a planned rollout of AstraZeneca PLC’s Covid-19 vaccine after a small clinical trial found that it doesn’t appear to protect recipients against mild and moderate illness from a fast-spreading new strain of the coronavirus first detected in the country.

The trial, which enrolled around 2,000 volunteers with a median age of 31 in South Africa, was too small and its participants too young to draw broad conclusions on the vaccine’s overall efficacy in protecting against the disease caused by the coronavirus, especially when it comes to hospitalizations or death. However, its findings contribute to concerns that a mutating virus is rendering existing Covid-19 vaccines less effective and that shots will need to be updated to protect against new virus strains.

Of the 39 volunteers in the AstraZeneca trial that were found to be infected with the new South African variant, 19 had received the vaccine, while 20 had received a placebo, said Shabir Madhi, the trial’s principal investigator and dean of the medical school at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Those numbers would imply an efficacy rate of around 10% at protecting against mild and moderate Covid-19 from the new variant, said Dr. Madhi, although he added that the data were too limited to be statistically significant.

One thing to keep in mind is the small sample size of 2000 volunteers for the Astra Zeneca vaccine clinical trial in South Africa.

SAANICH (NEWS 1130) – They saw the cops and started to run.

That’s what police on Vancouver Island say happened when they went to break up a house party over the weekend.

Saanich Police say they went to the home in the Gordon Head area at around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. When they got there, they saw 10 to 15 people hanging out.

Police say when the party-goers saw the officers, they started to run out the back door. When police went to talk to the host, they pointed out the house was empty denied any party took place.

“The host was likely unaware that police had arrived and witnessed the party long before they all scattered out the back door,” Cst. Markus Anastasiades with Saanich Police said.

The host was given a $2,300 fine for breaking public health rules.

From the same company that brought you the likes of asbestos baby powder and paying literally billions of dollars in litigation to cover up bad products and hide information, now you’ll be getting a subscription service for their vaccine:

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/02/09/covi...r&par=sharebar

The more of this shit that comes out and the more about how countries are basically individually assessing how to provide vaccines against manufacturers recommendations. Getting sick and building a natural immunity sure looks decent these days.

They sure don't. Well not in the traditional sense unless you take into account herd immunity.

But at least the vaccine doesn't allow you transmit it to others whereas getting the real thing will.

The initial quote was not directed at Hondaracer but someone that no longer posts?

Hasn't been proven either way. But has been proven to reduce viral load and viral load is a factor in transmission.

Anyways, not trying to be an ass but I'll gladly take your place in line if you don't want it.

Bruh it's 72% and 85% effective against severe disease.

And if it's a choice between getting the J&J in June vs waiting for Pfizer or Moderna in September then sign me up. I'll be smoking trees in Belize when they find me!!!
