My father ended up getting the Moderna vaccine last weekend during his rest week from chemotherapy and had no side effects.

more than 100 return travelers are refusing hotel quarantines at yvr

weak af government

but then again we probably have more covid and its variants than wherever they just came from LUL

JDMDreams 04-12-2021 09:37 AM

^^ I was hearing on the news this morning that we're letting a lot of double mutation strains come in via India, plus the case numbers we're seeing now is for cases that was infected 2 weeks ago, so numbers will only go up. Also, the mutated strains has even longer incubation period and even more easily spread via aerosol

COVID-sick passengers continue to pour into B.C. and Canada.

Jarbeau said that over the past six weeks at least 50 people a day had arrived at Canada’s border and tested positive for the coronavirus.

The govt. making it pretty hard to give a shit anymore..

So serious question, once BC reaches that point where everyone has had the first shot by June or whenever, are masks etc. Done or what?

Because I’m watching a few different youtubers I follow in the states and now no one is wearing masks in most of their videos even inside restaurants etc. And the reasoning is “we’ve all been vaccinated”

Traum 04-12-2021 10:42 AM

First of all, vaccination does not mean 100% efficacy. Secondly, even back in the days when only the original wild type (of COVID) exists, there have been a small number of cases where people were re-infected. More importantly, at least the P.1 Brazilian variant has shown that it is entirely capable of making people get re-infected with COVID again.

The first dose of Pfizer vaccine is supposed to afford up to 80% efficacy, and there is no data yet to suggest whether being vaccinated means you will not be able to transmit the disease.

I will certainly relax my personal COVID safeguards when mass vaccination has been completed. But by how much, I wouldn't be able to tell you until we're there and we have some new daily new infection counts to look at.

Hondaracer 04-12-2021 10:45 AM

Watch Canada be like, well we know you got your vaccines, but for the courtesy of the people who didn’t want to, please keep following guidelines and wear your masks at all times..

In terms of the reinfection, at that point you kinda gotta play the odds. How many people have been reinfected by a different variant after already having it? Less than 1% of covid cases?

So now you gotta worry about a 1% chance of a disease that effected .0x of the population? Time to start wearing a motorcycle helmet in your car because a brain injury from a collision is far more likely.

JDMDreams 04-12-2021 10:47 AM

Canada does not discriminate and welcomes all variants, we won't close our borders

mom and dad got appointment... the website kept saying login is wrong.. wtf.
so we called; the guy was SUPER nice, easily done and booked both of them at the same time.

Very impressed. Hopefully my family will actually go and get it. They won't tell you what they are getting.

Lastly, my parents are worthy of using iphones but they were complete dumb when it comes to wanting to check emails.. I had to open the app and register them .....

TL:DR, parents old, don't like tech. Had to register for them while they gave me info. Fingers crossed to see if they would go ahead.

I sure hope not. I'll be happy to no longer run back to my car like an idiot every time I'm going somewhere and forget to grab my damn mask :lol

Interesting video on "efficacy" in case you're interested!

tl;dr, efficacy isn't the best measurement as the point of the vaccine is to remove the risk of death or severe symptoms instead of preventing infection

I've pre-emptively taken the day after my 2nd dose off.
Scheduled it for Thursday so that I get Friday and the weekend off.

Third wave guys, when did wave 2 end?

iwantaskyline 04-12-2021 04:13 PM

20% ICU increase and some elective surgeries will be getting cancelled due to occupancy rates

SkinnyPupp 04-12-2021 04:18 PM

Next morning, 16 hours later, I feel fine. 0 symptoms *knock on wood*

I can tell you what they're doing here, if you're curious what a govt that is handling covid properly does

Yesterday they announced that next month they'll be relaxing some rules for vaccinated people.

Restuarants with a vaccinated staff will have different seating rules than restaurants that don't. Occupancy will still be 50% but the amount that can dine together at a table will be higher (6 people instead of 4 iirc). They will be able to open to midnight, instead of 10pm

They can set areas for vaccinated customers, allowing even higher groups - 8 per table. This includes banquets once again, up to 100 vaccinated people can be together in a room. This opens up larger weddings, funerals, churches, etc.

Bars with vaccinated staff will be able to open once again

They are also talking to other countries that have their shit together, to start a travel bubble for vaccinated travelers. This would eliminate quarantines going both ways, and possibly allow for tourism once again. Hoping that Japan is one of these countries, I need to help my brother move into his new house this summer EleGiggle

My mom's getting vaccinated in Surrey today, and there are dumbasses heckling ppl in line, about how the vaccine is going to kill us etc

SkinnyPupp 04-12-2021 11:48 PM

Symptoms kicked in after 20 hours. Just feel shitty, like a mild flu. No fever, just achy, bit lethargic, loopy

Edit: 26 hours later, Up to 37.7 C now, took some ibuprofen.

Like everyone says, just give yourself a sick day if you can. My wife could go to work fine, but there's no way I could.

I had eye inflammation and went to St.Pauls emergency for steroid drops today... never mind that the place looked normal as before (no social distancing and 2 hours wait to finish) but I think I only spotted one nurse with a N95 mask.

If government really cared about peoples lives, wouldnt there be a vitamin D campaign as most are deficient and medical science shows that its the best booster for the immune system?

Alarming tales of Covid vaccines deaths... huge if true.

Masks will be in style until we all get a second dose. Which hopefully won’t be too far out. Let’s hope September.

Got the pinkeye from all those doo doo websites you peruse eh, CIC? LUL

JDMDreams 04-13-2021 08:05 AM

Pink eye is a symptom of Coronas. But yea we're doing worse than Ontario, we're only second to Alberta. Based on infections per 100k population. What are we waiting for. Why is the government so short sighted and reactionary, not proactive, you will never win a war being reactionary. They already announced ICU is getting full.

TLDR
J&J vaccines on pause because 6 women have had blood clots out of 6.7 million doses administered.
