^yes, if we did this last year we wouldn't be where we are at now. Healthy people or economy pick one, they made their pick. I said it last year there is no economy without healthy people. |
How about making the tickets hold up i.e. they go to collections and or there's the ability to garnish wages if you don't pay willingly. I forget who they interviewed recently I think they said only 10% of tickets have been paid. Or how about just growing some balls to start. That recent incident where a bunch of people showed up from flights and refused to stay in a Government Hotel and we just let them through with a ticket in which they probably won't pay. How about we say well fuck you then you can quarantine your ass in jail then. The list is too long for me to even get started. |
Make the tickets stick, ticket based on income level, less international travel, stricter quarantine enforcement, give notice and do a hard shutdown, cover the costs of businesses that need to shut down to the point where it doesn't make sense for even the idiots to stay open, tell more of the provinces to get their shit together, the list goes on. I don't think much of what they should be doing even counts as extreme, just stop being useless. |
What we need is all federal parties to be somewhat on the same page. But that's never going to happen. Plus the cons are busy trying to pass another abortion bill. |
Another 1000+ day, Ontario is setting up check points on the highway apparently |

I decided to remove 3 tables to keep good distance as I personally don't believe the barriers really help as much. A place just down the block that won't be named was PACKED with diners side by side in a 800 sqft unit, with 3x3 plastic sheets between each couple... pretty sure if 1 person in there was sick, they all fucked... Anyways... there will always be some people pushing the envelope ... |

I guess there’s a limit to how many people can be out there inspecting all the time, but in the beginning they should have just pounded the shit out of restaurants that didn’t follow the rules and let the ones being upstanding stay open. The way it is now is super unfair, everyone has to be closed even if they were doing it right and even patios some places are just like flouting the rules and making things worse. It breeds a culture where nobody does the right thing anymore cuz the person doing the right thing is getting fucked financially, and the ones that aren’t, they’re not getting punished... so why keep doing the right thing beyond ethical reasons which doesn’t stop most people for very long. |
In fact, doing the wrong thing rewards you with a vaccine lol.. |
Those graphs are hilarious. Shows you the biggest contributors to a section that is 6% of the spread (workplace transmission) Fact is, the root is still people hanging out with those outside of their households (59%) and nothing is being done to change that behaviour other than asking nicely. |
Ontario just announced new restrictions where police can ask you for your ID and why you're outside - if it's not a legitimate reason they can fine you lol. There's a lot of people out there who complain about Henry's "ask nicely" rhetoric but I bet if they did something similar to Ontario they'd bitch and whine as well. |
Well all the police forces have basically come out there and said they won’t be doing random stop checks so it’s kind of moot. |
What it looks like when you actually prioritze what’s important? : https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...ccine-sharing/ So not only did the US do everything in their power to get as many vaccines as possible and essentially pay whatever it cost. They also hedged their bets and got in on other options as a backup plan Jelly of actual leadership/prioritizing your citizens? Disney land reopening, sports events at full capacity, and Canadians being told police will check your ID if you leave your house.. |
There’s still 7 million people currently infected in the US though. I don’t think the examples of all those things opening is an indication of their success as much as it is them just not giving a fuck anymore. Not that I don’t envy their vaccination program. |
Gonna be a fun few upcoming weeks My buddy is out sailing on Indian arm and he says there’s madddd groups of 15-20 people on boats and in some cases 4-5-6 boats moored together basically a floating party with 30+ people That coupled with the 2 weeks of sunny weather and roll in Vasaki (sp?) RIP If the weather continues to be good, the govt. better start accepting people aren’t listening anymore and figure somthing out. |
