I hope his father had some kind of life insurance which have kicked in. Perhaps that is part of his decision... who knows.

Ok, here I am talking about ethnicity yet again...
Pretty sure Andy Le and his family killed were Vietnamese, not sure what all these anecdotal stories about Filipinos are proving?
Seems like a good chunk of the victims at least 8/11 ( at least described in the Media) were non-Filipinos (Viets, Brazilians, Colombians, Whites, etc.) People changing their profile pics of themselves with Philippine Flags, makes no sense....at least now when we have more info on the victims.

My position is that I find it funny that Eby is so angry with this situation while the pathetic system is what created this whole thing. Then literally minutes later the same system that enabled this to happen is almost certainly going to get this guy off.
I’m so angry at this problem me and my people let fester! Grrrr
By the way, please don’t forget this not the first time Eby has been “so angry” with heinous crimes. The only difference is they’ve gotten progressively worse since he was “so angry” before lol..

The caring and compassionate, dare I say, progressive thing to do, is to get him on some prescription medication and release him. He's the victim here and the people he ran over are the oppressors.

Honestly I almost hope this guy gets off or is back in the public and someone ultimately kills him. Which is u likely but that seems like the only thing that will ever enact change in this society and even that I’m not confident would.
Solitary confinement for 50 years isn’t punishment enough for this guy.

For context, here is that Cons politician's baited question to Eby: Milobar questioned why Eby and his caucus refuse to talk about other subjects before the courts while being so open and direct about Lo’s case.
When the opposition party questions the BC NDP about court cases, Milobar says the members are typically dismissed out of hand.
“If the premier is weighing in on issues like this so forcefully, has the premier and the attorney general now changed direction? And will ministers now be allowed to actually talk about very serious, critical issues going on in front of their ministries that are in front of the courts? Or is that right solely reserved for the premier to voice opinions?” Milobar asked.
Valid question, Cons have been asking for tough on crime legislation, Eby prob in the past dodged those ones but now Eby is so angry about this one. Valid but it was a political bait too. That's how politicians roll.

My GF was reading some of the donations on the GoFundMe and says to me "that website you post on donated money".
I then proceed to explain to her "Well, this guy Manic lost a bet to this other guy named Honda over the Canadian election, and Jagmeet Singh losing his seat. Honda didn't want the money so he told Manic to donate to one of the funds, and put Revscene as the name, cool huh?".
Man did I feel like a fucking loser explaining that

Your thoughts on the City of Vancouver report?
Sixteen new 320 kg mobile barriers were ordered in February. -arrived this past Thursday. Updated risk assessment database.
A preliminary report by the City of Vancouver and police into last month’s Lapu-Lapu Day festival attack says authorities are considering safety enhancements for outdoor events in light of the attack.
But the report says planning for the festival appears to have followed prescribed processes, and Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim says all the right steps were taken.
Sim, flanked by city councillors and officials from the Vancouver Police Department, Vancouver Fire Rescue Services, and the Vancouver Police Board, at a media availability Friday said the tragedy is the darkest day in Vancouver’s history. The report explains that 16 new 320-kilogram mobile barriers to prevent vehicles from entering public events arrived in the city on Thursday, after being ordered in February.
“We’re also updating a centralized database to track and monitor risks across all upcoming events, improving coordination between city departments, the Vancouver Police Department, first responders, and event organizers, and to enhance on the ground safety.”
Sim shared that the city will also review and consider whatever recommendations come from the provincial inquiry into community event safety.
“Let me be very clear today, Vancouver is a city built on connection, a city of vibrant neighborhoods, rich cultures, and moments that bring us together, that spirit runs deep in who we are, and while this tragedy has shaken us to our core, we will not let fear define us. We will not let it divide us. We will stand together. We will keep moving forward together, united and unafraid,” Sim said.
“But we do owe it to everyone. We owe it to those who we’ve lost. We owe it to every single person who calls Vancouver home to take every step possible to prevent a tragedy like this from ever happening again. And while this is an incredibly painful moment, an incredibly painful point in time for all of us at the City of Vancouver, it’s also a moment of learning and for change, and that’s the work we have ahead of us, and that’s the work we’re committed to doing.”

I am not opposed to the use of these mobile barriers in future public events. But IIRC, the SUV was deliberately let (allowed) into the street space before the driver started running people over. So to prevent another incident similar to the Lapu Lapu festival, arrangements would have to be changed where vehicles would not be allowed into the venue until the event is over -- basically only during set up and tear down periods.

Rapper of the Black Eyed Peas just finished his set: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/briti...arty-1.7519778
Pangilinan said the show was wrapping up, and the festival's main act — Filipino American rapper Apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas — had already finished his set. Crews were in the process of tearing down the stage, tents and vendor stalls when the incident happened.
He said crews lifted a barricade that had been blocking traffic to allow a vehicle to enter. While some cars were being guided carefully through the crowds, one car suddenly plowed the street at high speed.
