Also, bus driver is Quebec based. Quebec is another alternative universe in itself.

Keep in mind, this guy in the Lapu Lapu thing has a laundry list of mental health interactions, both with police and the health authority. He is on release from treatment when he commits these murders.
All these other guys who have gotten off with the no criminal intent were largely diagnosed after the fact. This guy has literally the PERFECT resume to get off on this.
He likely won’t be back out in public for a while, but I’d bet everything I own he’s out in the community before the mandatory life sentence term is up.
Look at Ed Shellenborn or whatever the guy that willfully killed his kids in Merrit, fucking guy is already out walking around in public and doing it WHERE HE WANTS even though the family is begging to just not have him in proximity let alone fucking out entirely
This is what we voted for homies.
If this sack of shit killed 1 person justice would never be served. He killed 11 and maimed dozens and destroyed families and he is NEVER going to serve anything remotely adequate for his crimes.

The guy had interactions with police, but not in a criminal regard, likely via his family contacting the police due to his irrational mental state and nature.
What I find interesting is that judges can keep offenders jailed indefinitely if the offender is at risk of causing serious harm, similar to how they can in the UK.
I'm kind of curious why that isn't utilized more.

Andy Le, the son of three victims (Dad, step-Mom, and five year old sister) is speaking out about GoFundMe fundraiser for him: https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2025/0...killed-speaks/
My gosh. This kid has a big heart:
A teenager whose five-year-old sister, step-mother, and father were killed in the Lapu-Lapu Day festival car-ramming attack in Vancouver is speaking out.
Andy Le took to social media to thank everyone for donating to his GoFundMe fundraiser.
“I would like to thank everyone who has donated to my GoFundMe campaign, and from the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much. I truly appreciate each and every one of you,” he said.
Le’s family is three of the 11 people killed during the horrific tragedy on Saturday night. “I know that many other families are hurting too, which is why I’d like to donate $266,000 to the other victims from my GoFundMe campaign,” he explained.
As of Thursday morning, Le’s fundraiser totals $542,646.

It's crazy. I know $542k is a decent amount of money, but it's really not that much money in Vancouver. And to donate half of it when you don't have a family anymore..
I'm sure he's getting direction from his uncle/family, but again, it goes to show how compassionate these people are.
I don't think many people who would do that. Or maybe i'm wrong and most people would?

I'm not sure why they need to clarify this or what the circumstance is, but this is an update from Andy's gofundme. I'm wondering if family is asking them for money? Quote:
We would like to clarify that the original purpose of the GoFundme page as stated in the GoFundme campaign was to raise money to cover the funeral costs for Linh, Richard and Katie as well as to help pay for Andy’s education because he lost his dad who was the sole provider of the family and who was going to pay for his university costs.
The GoFundme campaign was not meant to raise money for either Linh’s family members, Richard’s family members or Andy’s biological mother.
Except for funds to be held in trust related to Andy’s education, Linh’s family members, Richard’s family members and Andy’s biological mother WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY OF THE MONEY.
Andy has already committed to donating an estimated amount of $266,000 to charity to support other Lapu Lapu victims. The balance of the GoFundMe campaign will be used to pay for the funeral costs, legal costs and so forth.
Once all costs related to this matter are accounted for, the remaining balance of the money will be donated to charity.
Thank you.

It's horrible. Read the novel, The Pearl (Grade 9 required reading).
As soon as someone has access to $$, everyone and their 4th cousin start rekindling relationship and asking for $$ help.

I'm in contact with people running the gofundme for Kira. There is a lot of negative chatter within the Brazilian community about the 'goal' on gofundme increasing as the donations go up. Crabs in a bucket man.

But you are right, 500k ain't that much money considering your parents are gone and your sister is gone and you're left with 2 geezers in VANCOUVER. Their OAS/GIS/CPP sure as shit ain't gonna pay for your college boy.

I'm getting the impression that some people are getting jealous or upset that these people are getting this amount of money.
Like wtf? People are dead and people are focusing on the wrong things here.
I guess you're right, when there's money involved people do crazy things.

I wonder if its feasible or legal to make the "total amount" donated withheld from the general public.
Like, if someone wants to donate $10, please so do and go on with your day. If you aren't involved, then move right along and fck off? The total amount is whats bringing people out of the woodwork.
In related news. Official day of mourning is set for today. I'm not sure what that really means though.

It's true, I notice it a lot of Filipino families.
I can't tell you how many friends I know that the minute a Tita or Tito passes away back home, they have to fly back immediately and get ready for literal war as the family fights over any businesses or property attached to the deceased.
I recall recently we had an employee pass away, and HR had to assist with providing the family the deceased's beneficiary forms, who they had listed their spouse as the benefactor. The deceased's mom proceeded to call us weekly arguing that the form is wrong, that they had only dated this person for a short time, that she should be the beneficiary, all over something like $25K.
It was gross.

It was gross. | I work with a bunch of Philippino people and it was interesting to hear that typically women turn their maiden name into their middle name when they get married in order to maintain a way to track familiar wealth lol.. not a bad tracking system

If the intent of the GFM was just to cover funeral and education costs I can see why he'd donate anything beyond that amount. People get weird when money is involved and it'll likely make the kids relationship with the rest of his extended family easier without a bunch of money that isn't earmarked for something specific floating around.
