Even back then, I remember enjoying them but not any more than crab or lobster or a nice steak.

Wildly fresh and eaten raw, that I could see the appeal. But to Honda's point, once cooked from a grocery store they aren't much better than other shellfish.

when my dad first came to canada one of his earlier jobs was being a geoduck diver. probably tons of them in the ocean back then, and probably cheap like gumby said. late 70s, early 80s.
