Apparently, they do. I believe if you check the applicator itself, there should be an "expiry" date, or something equivalent.

Having said that, like yourself, I had some sitting around for a few years and it was way past the expiry date. I used it anyway and it worked. :D

Speaking of Aquapel.. I found a box of 4 applicators.. from 2014.. no chance it still works HAHA

In the spirit of this thread's title, probably nobody will care, but there's word floating around that Aquapel is done with Canada. I'm probably going to stock up...

Glaco from Japan is better

after you apply aquapel, does your windshield fog up regularly?

I have applied seal and shine to windshield before, rain just slides off, barely even needed to use wipers but the problem is the foggy windshield, never applied anything to windshield after that

headhunt3r 08-07-2025 08:22 PM

No fog issues. Not sure if it matters but I have ceramic tint on the windshield too for heat rejection. Aquapel instructions was to buff it clear after wiping excess, but then the y changed instructions to just let the haze go away by itself. I tried this and it made application so much easier.

I've heard about Glaco. How is it better? Durability? Ease of application?

Aren't we supposed to buff the windshield a bit after applying Aquapel / RainX? I seem to recall that the windshield would have a tendency to haze up (not fog up) if you don't.

underscore 08-08-2025 06:52 AM

The one time I tried RainX the instructions said to run the wipers on high for a bit after. I assume that was a noob friendly buffing method.

Yes.

How Aquapel Works

headhunt3r 08-08-2025 08:05 AM

Here's the updated instructions that state no buffing required. Tried it and it worked great. Made application a breeze.

Take the leap of faith. It works!

But having a freshly RainX-ed / aquapelled windshield in the rain is just so much fun~! EleGiggle

(and honestly, I'd say it works waaaay better than windshield wipers)

RabidRat 08-08-2025 07:24 PM

How long does it tend to last per application?

headhunt3r 08-08-2025 08:54 PM

I'd say a solid 6 months. I use wipers still, but wipers with treated windows is still better visibility than no treatment. My eyes are getting old.

Omg look at all this gay ass requirements to prep your bullshit beetle if you don’t drive it for 2 weeks. Typical German trash… overly complicated for nothing.

The solution, of course, is to drive the car regularly so if one of you guys need your GTS to be taken care of I volunteer, at no charge, to keep your GTS operable. I'll even come to your house to pick it up and I will park it inside.

Also, while the warnings are silly (they probably should have added a charge port for this stuff) this is kinda like complaining that your girlfriend, Anas de Armas, can't cook so therefore you're breaking up with her.

Badhobz 08-09-2025 08:25 AM

WHAT SHE CANT COOK!!?!!? She fucking Cuban! She better know how to make a sandwich.

underscore 08-09-2025 09:32 AM

No big deal, you just need to have a climate controlled garage with a dyno and exhaust ducting so you can run it enough without having to take it outside.
