His car was just serviced and the tire pressure was set .5 PSI lower than spec.

He was driving a beetle. This is the best result anyone could wish for.

There is no substitute?

Badhobz 08-11-2025 09:09 AM

Fuck you beetle !!!

My large barge is wayyy uhhh…. Worse on all technicals aspects.

But at least it doesn’t look like a boring piece of shit and I don’t have to wear an ascot to walk around

Manic! 08-12-2025 12:01 AM

Local dealer has 18 Dodge Charger EV's on the lot. 14 parked in a row outside. All in pretty bland colors black, white, grey, red and some really dark green? color. Like 26K off MSRP. Why so many? Who is going to buy these?

At this point someone should just put Stellantis out of its misery. Other than RAM is there anything in their portfolio that's class leading much less competitive? Is there any tech worth selling off to other companies?

The new Charger makes zero sense as a product - it's nothing more than a bunch of bros who want to beat their chest. And it gets stupider with the return of the Hemi. Everything they do right now just reeks of desperation and a denial of reality.

Side note: Did anyone else catch Ford cancelling the Escape and Corsair and replacing it with an EV pickup? That's Ford's second best selling product that is getting axed! I also question their sanity as a company.

Jeep is also the other brand keeping the company afloat, even though their full size wagoneer is a failure and delegated to hertz/avis/enterprise

It's a huge PR issue but financially it's not devastating. Their mixed powertrain platform lets them pivot away from EVs with far less cost than Mercedes would face cancelling EQ. It's also shared with the Wagoneer S and other cars.

Americans will keep buying big, comfortable, good-sounding cars because long-distance driving is a fact of life. Instead of 45 minutes to Cypress, Seattle > Crystal Mountain is 3 hours, SF to Tahoe is 5.

Ford’s modular EV platform (like GM’s which is selling incredibly well) lets them quickly adjust their lineup to match market shifts, especially from Chinese.

Cancelling escape is not an issue because it sells mostly to rental fleets, with real consumer demand going to the Bronco Sport. Escape hybrid/PHEV sales are also weak.

The new EV pickup will be Maverick-sized, a segment with huge demand: Maverick still has waitlists four years in and unlike Bezos-funded attempts, Ford can actually deliver.

The product is ugly but the range-extended EV powertrain they're launching with the Wagoner is a major win: it's a full product cycle and 3-5 years ahead of GM, Toyota, and Ford.

Jeeps edge here is their engines aren't blowing up like GMs and it's not horribly out of date like the Expedition/Navigator.

Watch for the $350/mth lease promo on the Charger.

The Fiat 500e was $35/week, so that was worth it. But $350/month?

Nah~

(though I'm sure lots of people will still flock to that)

Manic! 08-12-2025 09:57 PM

People bitching about rep wheels but ED just put on $2000 rep wheels from China on his Bugatti. People running more expensive wheels on there civics.

red kryptonite 08-12-2025 10:08 PM

that color combo is gaudy

68style 08-13-2025 07:48 AM

This guy just figuring out that you’re overpaying for brand and prestige after he already has a Bugatti to his name is as SMH as it gets

Everything about that car is gaudy -- the car itself, the colour, the wheels, etc.

Everything.

I see people comment about some of these crazy lease deals, but do they even exist in Canada, or only the US?

Every time I've seen someone post about some EV on low leases, I check locally and see the dealers charging the same BS prices compared to down south.

Manic! 08-13-2025 11:42 AM

ED and Hoovie bought the worst examples of a Bugatti. Neither can really afford them. Hoovie I believe is already selling his. It's also funny that ed is a trump supporter but is buying wheels from China Instead of buying American made wheels like HRE.

mikemhg 08-13-2025 03:28 PM

I didn't know ED was a Trumper, but not surprising. I've always wondered if Hoovie was as well, being from Kansas and all.

It's funny how Trumpers always fit a certain "architype", you can almost guess them on first glance.

He is a big time christian and had 2 video's with guests that he took down because of back lash. One was about it being bidens fault gas prices are up. The whole video was B.S.

Also wrote this letter about being a proud American after trump won.

Spoiler!

mikemhg 08-14-2025 05:22 PM

Good to know, I've never liked the guy (can't stand the way he speaks) I found he always came off fake and phony, which a lot of these hollow Trumpers essentially are.

Hoovie is still good in my books though, he seems to keep his politics to himself.

bcrdukes 08-14-2025 05:50 PM

Interesting that Hoovie keeps his political views to himself, which I respect. Same along with one of his mechanics, The Car Wizard. I enjoy Car Wizard's segments. Sometimes, I find he's too practical; His infatuation for Toyota and hatred of BMWs annoy me. :D
