Just get the M3 Lite (includes GBA) + flashing + 1GB MicroSD if you want the best of both worlds.

If you want the newer ones and just DS, get the R4 that COMPC has in stock right now. They don't have the M3 Simply yet.

yes, it plays closed, but you can't lock the L/R keys (or at least I haven't figured out how)

Flashing doesn't cause the Supercard Lite to not load games.

All it is a third-party firmware copy of Nintendo's with code that allows firmware rewriting incase of a bad homebrew/ROM that deletes your DS' firmware + an extra line of code that boots up your flash cart.

3 friends and i bought modded ds lites about a month ago. 3 of them are SCL and mine is ezflash4. mine has no problems running games, and neither do the two other guys who use SCL and superkey. the one guy who has a flashed ds w/ SCL can only run ~50% of games. what other factors might affect this? maybe a different SCL version or something? any insight is appreciated

Theme Park DS lets DS owners design their own amusement park with the touch pen. You can pick mascots out, rides and food to make your dream park. Specifically for Japan is a game based off of the Dragon Zakura manga. It’s a brain training game similar to Brain Age, except its more geared towards trivia. There are 3,773 questions in the database not, including math questions, which the game makes on its own. This is a pretty strong line up from EA Japan and it’s bound to attract the “non gamer” audience that dug Brain Age and English Training DS. As of now Electronic Arts showed some English screens of Theme Park DS, which probably means it is going to get a release outside of Japan. Sim City DS is likely to come out too since the series is popular around the world.

The Anthology Series was the gayest excuse of a game. I really pray they don't make it that game.

Well, the last couple of Mortal Kombat games for the PS2 (Deadly Alliance/Deception), I enjoyed alot, but 3D on the DS would probably look very bad. I rather have 2D graphics then jagged and ugly 3D graphics.

need to be at least 60 before you stand a chance
how much damage do your characters do? the recommended strategy is 2 ninjas and two healers, put them all in back row and chuck shruikens

but i beat it with a warrior ninja and two sages, all level 99 job

if you want a place to level up, go do the friend code thing and unlock that dungeon with the iron giant and fight dragons there...

Nevermind, just spent the last bit beating the game.

I kept using Shining Curtains on the first tentacle and the Cloud, so my healer often got haste, which helped alot.

I just purchased an R4 for DS. I bought it so I could run dsorganize. I can't get it to work. I got moonshell to play mp3 files, so it isn't that bad. I like the fact it plays mp3 while the NDSL is closed.

There must be a way to make dsorganize work with the R4. If I can't figure it out, I'll see if I can contact the guy who wrote the program.

hey everyone, so i was considering buying a DS today because it looks like it has alot of old games which i would love to play

but whats with all this downloading etc. games? anyone have like a link to a dummys guide regarding the DS and all it's capabilities?

i've been looking into buying a DS too so here's what i've found...

to sum things up... some very smart people have figured out a way to "trick" the DS to running games off of non-nintendo cartridges. they call these cartridges "Flash-Carts" b/c they use flash memory inside to store the games.

They come in two flavors: removable memory, or built in memory. the removable memory kind has a slot in the cartridge for you to fit a MicroSD card, and the built in memory kind has the memory already built in.

Basically, what you do is you download games on the net via newsgroups or Bittorrent and load it onto the MicroSD card or the built in memory on the flashcart (usually via usb cable), and then u plug the device into the DS's cartridge slot and away you go! you can also play movies, use applications and other custom-made "homebrew" applications.

There's lots of different types of to choose from, but the most up-to-date ones are: R4DS, M3 DS Simply, and Supercard DS One (there's others, but i think these 3 are the most popular). These are called "Slot-1" Flash-carts because it fits on the top cartridge slot.

Older Flash-Carts were called "Slot-2" Flash-carts b/c they plugged into the bottom slot that is intended for Gameboy Advance cartridges. The problem with these Flash-Carts is that they only stored the games... you still needed to "trick" the DS into thinking that there's a legit DS game cartridge plugged into Slot 1, so you either needed to reprogram the inside of the DS (which voids your warranty), or you needed to buy a device called a "Passme", which plugs into Slot-1 and makes the DS think that there's a legit cart plugged in.

The newer flash-carts (R4DS, M3, Supercard) are an all-in-one solution because it's just one piece and it both allows you to store games and also tricks the DS.

What you will need are:
1. Nintendo DS
2. Flash Cart (R4DS, M3 DS Simply, Supercard DS One)
3. MicroSD card (1GB recommended)
4. Download games off net.

I dont want a headache with all this stuff, i want to buy a Micro SD card, and one of the chips or w/e to be able to play the downloaded games, i dont want to have to swap stuff over etc.

buy a BIG microSD card (2 GB) so you can load all your fav games at one time without having to unload and reload them everytime you want to play diff games. R4DS, Supercard DS One, and M3DS Simply are all super simple.... load up games on MicroSD, plug microSD into the Flashcart, plug the flashcart into the game slot on the DS and away you go!

It really is as simple as unzipping the firmware onto the Micro SD card, then copying any .nds roms over to it.

And the new firmware supports cheats! If the game has cheats, hit the Y button instead of A, and you will be able to enable all the cheats. Mario Kart has a cool one that lets you play as ShyGuy, which is not normally supported by the game.

i think you can only battle friends, people you get a friend code from. but i could be wrong. also you need to somewhat progress through the game to get wifi options

I feel that way too. With my ps2, I have over 200 good games, and with my DS I have all of them. I think that when you can't associate a value to the game, you care about it less. That's why I went legit with my 360... I actually play the games I buy. :p

Yup but it does act like a passcard, so you can just add a slot 2 device and can load it up without firmware modifications or anything like that. I started using a Supercard so I can play some GBA games that can no longer be found. Unfortunately the main game I wanted to play (Super Mario 3) does not work :(

that's what i meant. R4 is only a Slot1 (DS slot) device, meaning it can only use DS roms.

if you want to play GBA roms AND DS roms, then get the M3 Lite or Supercard Lite or any of those flash devices that utilize the Slot 2 (GBA slot) in the DS.

think you need the real gba cartridges to load in the old pokemon you have caught

but you can always use the gts to trade for old pokemon you want
