Sadly it would probably cost even more to take everything out then put everything back in, a huge chunk of the cost was the installation anyway. Ah well, maybe next restaurant ;)
CRS, wasn't I suppose to get you one last time? ah I don't remember so it's your lucky day, I'll get one for you :p

Sorry hi5, my menu guy is taking forever to get me a digital format for the menu. Well he has the original one but it's like 50MB so he has to shrink it but he's also working on updating the drink menu for me at the moment too!
any more VIP cards available? I find that lately I'm always going to ebisu for drinks and food!

If you don't have plans maybe some of you should try to come down for NYE! We're open til 4am! (or until I pass out) It will be CRAZY there's around 300 people confirmed, none of that $100 cover charge crap like the clubs. Just a minimum of $20 per person (easily achieved with a round of shots haha)
Edit: Even if you DO have plans, come down afterwards if your not sloshed yet :D

Naw no Dine-Out set this year. We got the Sukiyaki & Seafood Hot Pots going this year for the damn cold Winter, soothing hot soup food! The chefs would go insane with a 3-course meal, dozens of Hot Pots and the regular menu simultaneously haha :D

Hey guys,
For the rest of the NHL Season (including Playoffs) there will be a new Canucks promotion going on the weekdays!
The promotion is:
If there is a Canuck game on that night you can order a pitcher of Granville Island beer for $14 and then you get to choose a "Player Card" (Sundin, Ohlund, whoever) and if that player scores in that game then you get a FREE PITCHER!
Only applicable for games on the weekday, it's too crazy on the weekend to have this promotion hehe.
It's so fun it's crazy in here haha somebody bought Burrows today and he netted the first goal and they went nuts!

So I have it with me but I'm like computer-stupid ... the file my menu guy gave me is like 80MB in PDF file and he had a family emergency so he had to go back to Japan for I don't know how long ... how do I shrink it so I can put it up? I doubt people want to download a movie size menu ...

It's kinda different from both Robson and Richmond location. More BBQ items as they have a giant grill and it's loungy in the front but more private with rooms in the back.

Hey an Olympic Figure Skater is eating here right now!
Mao Asada?
Wiki'd:
Mao Asada (浅田 真央, Asada Mao, born September 25, 1990) is a Japanese figure skater. She is the 2008 World Figure Skating champion and Four Continents champion, the 2005-06 and 2008-09 season Grand Prix Final champion and three-time Japanese national champion. She also holds the world record of the highest combined score, sum of the Short Program and the Free Skate, under the ISU Judging System.

I didn't know haha my waitresses pointed it out!
Also there was an article written up for us in Yahoo! Japan. Lots of athletes for the 2010 Winter Olympics will be coming through either Ebisu or Kamei before/during/after the Olympics! That's some awesome news for me! Hehe (btw any good looking athletes I should be aware of? :D)
Edit: Oh my waitress just told me she was too young to compete in the last Olympics and all of Japan attempted to change the Olympic regulations so that she could participate (should have just pulled the China gymnastics scandal LOL) but they failed so her expectations for 2010 is a GOLD! ... that's pretty neat stuff!

Dude, your Ebisu website looks like it came straight from 1996 and was hosted by Geocities. Not only that, but half the links don't work. If I was coming from out of the country and was looking for nice restaurants to eat, I would stumble upon your website and quickly leave it.

Really? It's always super fresh because we go through so many every day (at least hundreds) so we always bring in new ones. Plus we shuck'em when you order them, not pre-made. Nothing sits at the restaurant for more than a day.. that is weird, but sometimes you'll get the odd few that are not as fresh ... you should have told us we would have replaced it for you!
I am wondering why there was no PPV game shown at the Richmond location on Friday night?
Yeah I don't think they purchased the PPV package in Richmond. They don't pull in enough Canuck fans just to watch PPV for it to be worth it, the package is over $1200! That's like $150 a game. We do have PPV in Downtown though!

Haha I know I know I used my very limited HTML skills to build that. I have a Japanese company doing up a new one as we speak, they are doing it for all 4 websites within our company and launching it in a few weeks. It's better than having NOTHING up. It was just an "Under Construction" page on it for months. :p

it's was ok, been to ebisu many times, and was satisfied each and every single time. We were sure it was just a bad batch of oysters but it left a bad enough taste in our mouth we didn't want anymore. Definitely won't stop us from coming back.

Hiya, got a small question.

Hey ap0x-, unfortunately we stopped broadcasting UFC last year because they totally jacked up the prices for Commercial Licensing and it's way too expensive now. If you noticed, a LOT of restaurants that used to have it aren't showing it anymore. The only places that still show it are the pubs (and I believe they have cover charges) and the Edgewater Casino, maybe even RiverRock? (well we all know they make enough money to broadcast it haha)
Just ask for me when you come down and I'll see what I can do! ;)

So i payed a visit to ebisu on robson a few nights ago and was happy about the expirience...Your severs were quick to get us seated during peak hours, and was very polite.
My SO and i ordered a few dishes
-Assorted Tempura
-Dozen Royal Miyagi Oysters
-Tuna Tacos
-Saba Inferno
-Oyster Matoyaki
-Shrimp Sizzler
for drinks we ordered a few golden balls and a few chichis for her...
overall the service was great and the food was exellent aside from the shrimp sizzler. The only downfall was that i did not get to greet the infamous deon as he was on vacation.
will comeback forsure, with a bigger apetite.:)

So i went there again with a few buddies a few days ago.... although the drinks were good, the food was not so impressive.
We got
-raw Oysters
-Saba Inferno
-Hamachi Inferno
-a few BBQ plates
-fried oysters
-Ultimate Unagi
-Yakisoba/udon noodles..
well first off, the server over-cooked the Inferno box pressed sushi...the first time i went there, she just lightly charred the tops and away she went; it was great...this time she certainly made sure that the hamachi and the saba was charred; the peices had a butane/propane smell to them afterwards which was not pleasing at all.
the raw oysters were good for maybe 8 of the 12 peices...i had 2 bad peices and my friends found the other 2.
the bbq plates were fantastic, i have no complaints.:D
the ultimate unagi is an aquired taste?...don't get me wrong, i like unagi, but this time i found it almost burnt by the bowl as i don't know how long it was sitting on the counter smoking away before being served to me...i like the oe one style better... i found the broth (soup) took away lots of flavor?
no complaints from the yakisoba/udon noodles. :D
drink wise...i thought it was great...im addicted to the golden balls. Maybe start using real lychee now..as it may give it more authentic kick.:)
besides, its in season.
i will still continue to return, but i'll just avoid some of menu items next time...

Because they were OVER AN HOUR LATE for their reservation!! Then they have the audacity to blame me like it's my fault for not holding the table empty for them! I had good customers in line (like yourself for example) that I had to give it!
These guys that booked it at 7:00pm arrived at 8:20pm like they are some hot shit and that the world revolves around them. They told me "My friends get off work at 8 so here we are, why the fuk you give away my table" ...
uh .. so seriously then make the reservation at 8 or even 8:30? :2finger2: *sigh*

Went here for dinner on Friday night. Me and my gf enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Everything was perfect- except for one thing.
We ordered the sirloin steak and asked for the remaining half we couldn't finished to be packed. When we got home and opened the container- we see that we got some half finished potatoes instead.
Very disappointing. =/
Aside from that and the waitress hovering our table while I take my time to take care of the bill, I thought the overall experience was pretty ok.

So if I came last Friday(at like 12:45am) would you have kicked us out at 1am if we wanted to JUST drink or you don't mind people staying a little later to just drink? haha
Obsideon
12-15-2009, 01:18 AM
Well technically we take last orders for drinks at 12:30 and the bar is completely shutdown as soon as the last drinks are served (so roughly 12:35-40 depending on how big the last orders are) ... so I can't guarantee you would get drinks if you walked in at 12:45 but if you did make it inside earlier I don't mind you guys staying a bit later than 1:00 ;)

Thank you for your kind feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed your experience at Ebisu, but I'm a little confused as to the 2nd half of your comment. You mean you had half a steak that was packed by the server but when you brought it home there were only potatoes in there?
Wow sorry about that but I can't imagine that happening ... so did the server pack the wrong dish or did you also have potatoes but they just left out the steak? I doubt that the server ate your leftovers lol I don't starve my staff :p Gonna need to figure out how something like that happened ...
Next time you come down please don't hesitate to say hi to me!

I imagine that the server gave us another table's dish by mistake. We did order the potato appetizer but we finished it- so it couldn't be ours. As for the steak- some other group probably got it instead.

Were you at the Broadway location? They close earlier than the Robson location.
We are open for lunch 11:30am - 2:30pm everyday except Saturday.
Weekday Dinner (Sun - Thurs) is 4:30pm - 12:00am (midnight) we do last call for FOOD at 11:15pm and drinks at 11:30pm.
Weekend (Fri & Sat) is 4:30pm to 1:00am, last call for food at 11:45pm & drinks at 12:30am, we also serve Late Night snack food until 12:30am on the weekends, like our signature Chicken Karaage, Chikuwa Cheese, Nachos, etc basically the stuff that goes really well with drinks!
Update: During the Olympics we will be open from 11am to 2am EVERY SINGLE DAY from Feb. 8th to Feb. 28th and there's a chance we'll extend the hours even after the Games!

Does it mean our food is healthy enough for her to indulge on AND be an Olympic level athlete?? Craziness!
Also Gold Medalist Guo JingJing - Captain of Team China Diving Team was here last week! She's not participating (unless she's diving into snow?) but I'm sure she's here to cheer on her country!

Which party is it bud? I have about 4 parties of 25-30 people this weekend. Ask for me when you are here and we'll chat! :D
2 hour policy is still in effect but I am usually much more lenient with parties of 20+ people because it's much harder for that many people to finish in that time.
(Tip: If you book later in the evening, like say after 9pm. The policy is generally waived and you can party all night long [We close at 1am on weekends] since we book 2 waves of customers. First wave around 7ish and second wave around 9ish. ;) )

Sorry bud but the price for the wings have went up a tiny bit to cover for pretty much everything that the government has been throwing at business owners, the impending doom of minimum wage increase a major factor, the wings are now 39 cents during Happy Hour, most of the rest of the menu has remained the same price though! :)

Last time I was there for a game... needed to leave at the end of the 2nd period because the waitress seemed like she was "hurrying us" away.
The food has improved, but the TV near the sushi bar needs to be bigger.
Obsideon
04-07-2011, 05:16 PM
Sorry about your previous experience!
If you make reservations or arrive even 30-45 minutes before the game and let the waitress know you are here to watch the game, there should be no issues at all to stay until the end. It definitely doesn't make sense to have you leave in the middle of the game!... but sorry on the flip side it's difficult to have people come at 5:30pm for a 7pm game and expect to sit until 9:30-10pm (roughly when the game ends) cuz we do have a 2 hour policy but it's not strictly enforced due to the hockey game going longer than that. The policy is only in effect on the weekends when we have line-ups but weekdays when we aren't as busy you are welcome to stay as long as you like bud! :)
You don't mean the 2 TV's by the bar right? If I make those any bigger the people sitting at the bar will go blind lol they are only 3 feet away at most!
If you are referring to the TV in the front area by the sushi bar then you have a good point! When we have enough money to upgrade to a bigger one I'll be sure to do that ASAP!

hey I need to make a reservation for the 29th for my bday, it's a party of 20, when should i call in the reservation? I hope calling it in by this weekend will be early enough.
and is there a 2 hour limit on that night also?
btw my friends and i always have a great time there, thumbs up to your restaurant and keep it up.

A big party of 20 you should call in to book it ASAP cuz weekends tend to fill up pretty quickly. The 2 hour limit will depend on how busy it is that day, I could try to shuffle things around to make more time for fellow RS'ers but no promises :p
(A small tip: If you book for a later time like 8 or 9pm, you can stay all night! We close at 1am)
I'll see you next week! :)

 umm ...what?... it's $10.80 on the menu ... how does that turn into $16?... even with the lame HST it's still $12... and it's served in the same stonebowl we use for Taco Rice (which is a reasonable size) :fulloffuck:
I would look for you, but I don't know what you look like. Would it help if I PM you my reservation time, name, and tel #?

I'm sorry, I didn't read this is for the Robson one. I had it from Richmond and everything I said were not exaggerated. I didn't mean to ruin your restaurant's rep.
Obsideon
07-21-2011, 12:02 PM
^ no problem, I was just confused heh... but yeah I have heard many stories from other customers about the Richmond location, it's different management team. I know they are working very diligently on improvements or else they could drop Robson's reputation as well because we are under the same brand.
^I've always wondered. Are all locations owned by one group? Or are they all separate?
guddagudd
07-21-2011, 12:37 PM
I think it's the same owner but different management. I asked about it from the manager or supervisor there.
Obsideon

It's under 1 company but it branches off differently, each restaurant has their own management team.

Hey Deon, I've always enjoyed my time at your location, food's great, ambiance's great and service is good. Just a tiny peeve about the menus. I always seem to get ones that are disgustingly sticky and stained with dry soy sauce.. Sort of a turn off at the beginning of each meal. A minor detail that shouldn't be over looked and is easy to solve right? But it won't keep me from returning, love this place!

Just came by for happy hour on tuesday before the katy perry concert
overall I have to say 8/10
- the toro inferno tastes strange (sour? not sure...) and is expensive. Didn't like it at all
-Honey garlic wings + salt and pepper wings are so good!
- White sangria tasted good and as always never get checked for ID :troll:
- Happy hour favourite rolls for $3.50 each ($6.50 for 2) isn't really that great a deal. Not bad but not enough to attract me to come for it. The specialty rolls are way too expensive at ~$10 each. Still ordered the sweet dream roll and it was excellent
As always bill came to a reasonable number and service was decent, came at around 6 and the atmosphere was nice too, not too busy :D
One pet peeve of mine is the menu is such an eyesore, not sure if there are just too many items but it always takes me at least 10-15 minutes to make up my mind on what to order. We just ended up ordering more and more as we went because we couldn't make up our minds
Culverin

um, specialty rolls are usually quite pricey. Usually $10-12 if not more. This is even at bad places that serve sub standard sushi.

07-22-2011, 06:11 PM
Thanks for pointing out the menus darlyn, I will try to keep on top of that from now on and get them cleaned on a more consistent basis!
I apprecite you clarifying that Culverin.
Yeah I find the standard price around town for these specialty rolls to be around the $10 mark. There are cheaper places (by a buck or 2 which isn't really a big difference) but I find them to be of lower quality..

We recently had discussions about the menu, Ebisu Robson will be revamping our menu in a couple weeks with some new feature items! (Takoyaki, Stuffed Zucchini sticks) and following up will be Ebisu Richmond's new menu too with very reasonable prices!

A lot of the items that used to be on the menu but have been taken off to make space for new additions can still be "secret ordered" ...hehe...
^ What are some "secret off-menu items"?? I want to try!
Me too!

I know this is asking for industry secrets... But perhaps you'd indulge the whims of a foodie?
Is the takoyaki fresh made like on the spot? I really don't expect it to be cause that would be super labor intensive. However, if it is, how do they juggle the task of making, flipping and such?
Obsideon
07-28-2011, 09:54 PM
I don't know about other restaurants but our Takoyaki is from our main warehouse and then brought to all our branches every afternoon.
Our Crab Cake Croquettes are made fresh in-house every day and they sell fast like hot cakes!

I didn't think the crowd would be coming in since it was raining and I figured they would just go home... but nope... after the fireworks it was CHAOS!... lol ... from half empty to line-up out the door within 5 minutes... and the dumbest part on my end was that I let off half the waitresses already ... :megusta:
