those old things had the 22RE if I'm not mistaken, the motor that never dies regardless of what you throw at it. Top Gear tried to kill one and couldn't. I'd call that a hell of a truck, I wouldn't want to be bushwacking with some junker that breaks down.

RRxtar 10-08-2008 04:13 PM

i had a 22RE in my first car. 85 Celica GT RWD 5spd. had over 300k on it, and ran strong as hell, even with what I did to that poor car.

honduhman 10-08-2008 05:34 PM

who cars.... they rusted out by the time they were 5 years old. They were an economy truck that wouldn't come close to the sales of the 'Big 3', now they pretty much are part of the big 3.

Even the cars have far more durability now being used as taxi's even.

underscore 10-08-2008 05:49 PM

that's the best part of owning a Honda or Toyota, having the body fall off before the motor stopped running. Hell my uncles old 88 Prelude had no reverse, over 350k and the floorboards were half rusted out so you had the road rushing by under your legs.

economy trucks can do amazing things too, you'd be surprised what one of those old Toyota's or a little Sidekick can do out in the bush.

Toyotas have always been reliable and durable as hell, it just took a while for North Americans to realize that. My old 87 Celica had 437k on it, a few rust spots and it ran like a champ til I spun a bearing from too much stopleak, which I could've fixed but didn't have the $$$ or the time (only a few months in highschool shopw tih the right tools). Hell I even beat a newer 318i in it.

The crown victoria I drive everyday has 495,000km, and i bag the shit out of it everyday. 390,000km of it's life it's been a taxi, and thats a hard life. Not to mention what the cops did to it. Any car can last that long.

PS... Corroded frames aren't durable, rotted shock towers make drivability an issue, blah blah.... good cars/trucks none the less, but they're far better now.

on the subject of the toll booth

Lolz

i bet the poor bastards from van trying to go home today would have gladly coughed up $100 to get out of that 35km line they were in because of the toll booth deconstruction

SmokeyTheBandit 10-13-2008 04:34 PM

so dexter started his first training session yesterday, he's 5 months old now. 40lbs. he's got a long way to go, but he's got lots of prey drive.

apparently because i am so young, and the other two guys that have been doing this most of there lives want a bit of a break. they are slowly going to start training me to be a decoy/helper. basically thats the guy that gets to get all the dogs fury.

i can say i officially got bit by a real dog yesterday lol

this is basically what i had to wear, bite arm and a padded suit (which i didnt wear because the dog i was helping only bites the arm)

http://shellshots.com/schutzhund/album/medium/0005.jpg

and you cant move while the dog is there or he is allowed to bite you. and as you stand there, all calm. the dog is barking, non stop and looks like this. and this bark isnt a, "hey look, the mail man is here"... its more like, "i am going to kill you, yesterday"

http://www.shellshots.com/pix/0123.jpg

RRxtar 10-13-2008 05:35 PM

thats fuckin sick. id shit my pants

SmokeyTheBandit 10-13-2008 06:04 PM

its actually not that bad. the dogs are more or less trained to bite the arm. you just have to make damn sure you give the dog the bite arm and not something else!

i had no idea how powerful these dogs were. when they approach you, they are suppose to stop and just bark at you. they are litterally 1 inch away from you and they jump up and down in your face barking... this one dog nearly knocked me over with his nose just touching me, nevermind the bite

jeffh 10-13-2008 06:30 PM

jeffh 10-14-2008 06:22 PM

zumvette 10-14-2008 06:30 PM

jeffh 10-14-2008 06:33 PM

i hope the Communist Party of Manitoba dies in a fire

RRxtar 10-14-2008 07:14 PM

cannan is in. my vote made a difference!

conservatives by minority

underscore 10-14-2008 10:09 PM

stupid Bloc Quebecios, they've tried to get a majority in Quebec and they came close but failed, now they're just a waste of votes creating a minority and jamming up our gov't.

I lol'd that the Greens didn't get any ridings, not even Elizabeths May's home riding.

Didi anyone else watch the 22 Minutes bit before they showed the results? We had advanced results in HD til they caught on and cut us off haha.

RRxtar 10-15-2008 06:19 AM

elizabeth may ran head to head with peter mckay. taking on a cabinet minister, just goes to show what a joke the greens are.

they did win about 8% of the votes, about 3.5% more than last time around. im going to guess at least half of those votes were throw away votes tho :D
