Fucking thing died already. Its all covered in oil :( I definitely need new rings :(

Edit: Prices for the pads are $38 and a new OEM piston is $60 compared to the $160 for a wiesco :)

not necessarily... same thigm happened to my bike for a while there and it was because:
1.) wasnt running yamalube 2r
2.) wasn't running 40:1 yamalube 2r..
I threw in a new BR9EG and it hasnt bogged out since, crossing fingers..
i also repacked silencer and did lots of cleaning of exhaust systems. keep that shit clean and always carry around a wire brush and a 13/16" every time u go riding so you can ensure spark to make it home!!

depends on what you plan on doing with the bike, and this is Adam we're talking about. It's not an OEM it's an offshore brand oem knockoff

well in that case, i'm not sure.. But I know that Yamaha makes a good piston. If you could find a true OEM piston i'd recommend it over a wiesco any day of the week.

There was this thing on the side of the head. (2 screws and a inspection cover looking thing) I pulled the cover off and there was this metal thing inside, kind of spiral-ish, oily and glazed over. There was a hex screw on it *with stript threads*

I pulled it out and had a look at the piston, there are NO marking on the head of it... that means its a standard piston right? Anyways the wall of the cylinder looks smooth, but the piston is VERY rough around the edges of the top and the sides are all *marked up* The rings are almost smooth with the piston itself.

Anyways, what is that "piece" called? Is that the "reid valve"?

Edit: Mod of the day was ANOTHER plug. 4 plugs and counting :( I went for a hour rip on this plug at high revs for the whole hour and the plug seemed just fine when I got home to look at it; it was clean:) Also did all of the above... and I am going to take off the exaust later and clean all the oil out of it.

A buddy came over tonite and showed me how to take the governor off the weed-eater. I swear the poor little 18cc engine was gonna blow up!

down_hill_dog 10-12-2004 10:36 PM

i had no choice to do much else it was going to be just red with the polished silver isuzu, but i chipped the fuck out of the one corner on the stainless intercooler piping... instead of stripping it and going all red again i just blasted the one corner black, re-sanded the lettering cleared it and done... it's good for now until i find some high heat hot pink for it.

SpooSports 10-12-2004 11:23 PM

Peep the speaker Mounting bracket that were fabbed up to make 5inch AVI speakers sit in 6x9 Holes.

And then the bullshit i went through with the pinion and seal.

I just did'nt have enough time on my hands to do somthing completely different with it at the time. so fuckit.

Today the head went back on, new headbolts and gasket... Almost everything is together again.. I just need to plug in the ignition coils, run the vacuum hosing for the MAP sensor and the power brake booster. . . After that the rad can go back in, all intercooler piping on again, do the cam to crank timing and voila should be running in good order again.

everything is in as of 1:00 this afternoon, i just need to do the cam to crank timing with an experienced person and i'll be able to fire her up... I've never timed a dohc engine before...
