Thanks, those were taken down in the skagit valley (http://www.tulipfestival.org/) in Washington.

If you hurry, there may still be a few fields in bloom, but I wouldn't expect them to last more than a week

Senna4ever 04-26-2007 11:36 PM

All the tulip fields have been cut except for Roozengarde & Tulip Town. There is a $4USD admission fee. Irises will start blooming soon though.

I was down there last friday, and there were 5 different fields that still had flowers. Tulip town has the $4 entrance fee, but all the rest were free. Rozengarden was free for the feilds, but you had to pay to walk through the garden, which was kinda like Queen E park (I didn't bother)

And now for something completely different... did some quick pics with my friends' band the other night, they're trying to whip a package together for Seeds.

the flash owned the sign!

Soundy 04-27-2007 09:55 AM

Yeah, well, that one was just a fun shot anyway :)

I actually told them, because they need to change their band name, they should make it "NO DUMPING" :)

dspirit79 04-27-2007 10:07 AM

1st pic the hand of the bald guy in the middle is a little funny looking

2nd pic the lighting is kinda flat.

3rd pic... well as someone mentioned... the sign owned the flash.

love the 1st shot!! very beautiful.
3rd shot needs some softening on the skin - it is a little distracting :) neatimage? or i dunno..I also think her make up is too bold for the black and white. It looks great in the colour shot though! :) I like the composition and colours of that one too.

Shot this today....This is my first time shooting with my new camera...go easy on me :)

Justing - I can't see your pics? and your web page seems to be down? did you forget to feed the hamster?

dspirit79 04-28-2007 11:48 PM

Shows up fine on my computer. It had a glitch a moment ago... but seems okay now.

dspirit79 04-28-2007 11:51 PM

Thanks Dottie.

I agree about the skin on the 3rd, but that being said I figured that I should leave it as she is a little older and should reflect her age... I guess I could smooth it out...

You think I should?

dspirit79 04-28-2007 11:53 PM

BALDY: If you moved the camera over to the right just a LITTLE bit more the composition would be stronger. The stray on the left and the cut off fountain on the right creates a tension that does not improve the photograph.

yeah i think so, because othewise rather than showing her age, it shows the make up that she's wearing. I'd smooth out her forehead, and a little bit of her cheeks. Everything else is totally fine. :)

ColinK 04-29-2007 10:43 AM

dspirit79, I really like that second portrait shot. it has a lot of life and is really fun. Her shirt also "matches" the back wall and your focus is completely on her, and no where else.

edit: I meant that your eye is drawn straight to her and no where else

dspirit79 04-29-2007 12:54 PM

Thanks Colin. It was a spontaneous photograph. Made her laugh and snapped the shot. Sometimes, no amount of posing can ever give the same energy as a spontaneous portrait.

I would show more car. My eye is constantly looking at the background and not the car itself. Something else that may also help keep the focus on the car would be to have the f-stop all the way down as opposed to at 7.1 and if you can, step back a little further and zoom in. This will blur the background more shifting more focus onto the car.

The log is also distracting.
