The picture that I have up there is as Aberdeen Centre. They chose the crappiest locations for shooting...bad lighting and horrible backgrounds.

haha thank you, now i get it !!

Nothing spectacular, just showing the bias towards Canon.

Can you spot the person with his/her lightsphere in the ceiling-bounce position?

Senna4ever 11-12-2007 01:54 AM

^^^ Haha, good observation.

A couple snaps from QE Park a couple weeks back. No real post-processing, just default corrections in DxO Optics and watermarking in Photoshop. All were shot on a D200 w/ 18-200mm VR, click on images for detail EXIF data. Comments or critiques welcomed!

Wish I'd had more time on this one and that VR had been set to active instead of normal. Zooming from 18 to 200 while panning, framing and focusing isn't usually the best way to get good results :(

This one reminds me of an Ent for some reason.

It's funny, I'd never gone to the upper lot in QE before and didn't even know this fountain/sculpture was there.

Do some of those pics have a little bit of HDR? Very vivid colours. What the hell is an "Ent?"

PS....the original rules of this thread is 3 images per day/member. I'm willing to say up to 4...just keep it reasonable next time, please. :)

I think an "Ent", if I'm not wrong, is the big ass trees that talk in LOTR..the scene where the trees are kicking the orc's asses.. that's what I remember.

Senna, I love it! Though... something's not sitting right with this one either. It looks like it's lacking a lot of detail. It's very obviously not out of focus, as the edges look like you took a razor blade to them, but it's all look really soft.

That, and I am afraid the twig is a bother to my twisted eyes. You cut half of it out with the crop. The whole thing doesn't scream 'Senna' to me, not your usual calibre.

Now do me! ;)

My apologies for the number of images :(

There's no HDR in any of those photo's, those colours are how the shots came out of of the camera (D200, auto WB, Sharpening: +2, sRGB III, Saturation: +). That's assuming that DxO doesn't change the saturation levels by default and I'm pretty sure it doesn't. I actually only came across reference to HDR the other night. I kinda wish that I'd been shooting RAW at QE Park so I could experiment with it but alas I was shooting JPEG+BASIC.

And the Ent reference was explained correctly by other posters....... LOTR, which also explains my username ;)

Yeah, that day was getting really dark when I took that. I had to jack up ISO to 800 to hand hold it.

Your picture is a good example of closure.

That is really cool! Perfect contrast.

What's closure?

Oh, and I am addicted to ISO at the flick of a switch. Haha.

I wouldn't call them boring....exactly....but they are damned long.

Dammit, I just realized I forgot to take a photo of the set-up. I lit the duck with my wireless flash from ducky level, then used a flashlight - in this case one of those wind-up battery-less ones from Costco - to paint in the lines. Shutter was set on 'B' and exposure time was about 1 minute.

I'm doing 2 fashion shoots tomorrow...one with a dog and the other with human models. :) Film developing/printing and digital post-processing take up almost all of my waking hours now....that and RS. :D
