haha..

lol - yeah. It was kind of a spur of the moment, super cheap, bought used... REALLY AMAZING deal. couldn't pass up seeing as my PC was breaking by the second.

But..here i am! haha Last night I actually tried to edit photos, but nothing looks right. I need to calibrate.

I did this one on the mac, not sure how i feel about it, but at least i can contribute - what do you guys think of the colours?

Check the gamma on the Mac. The default is 1.8 - should be at 2.2 to look better and be more accurate.

i think the shadows need some more work.

Car Chick 10-12-2008 10:57 AM

whoa - the new calibration makes everything look 100 times different.

thanks guys, ill keep playing with it.

ps. the last photo - i think the white balance seems really off. I know you said you still have to work on them, but the shorts blend with his skin, in a not very flattery way.

davidhtam 10-13-2008 11:32 AM

^^ thanks.. i think i need to calibrate my monitor as well.. either that or my eyes are just wonky.

Re-adjusted the photos and uploaded them again:

focus more on the shirts. i think it woulda looked cool if you cropped the head and got tighter on the shirts

Levitron 10-15-2008 01:09 PM

The shirts don't come out that well. Perhaps dodge them a bit to highlight them more?

Matsuda 10-15-2008 01:52 PM

Took these last nite

i like the moon on the first one. Looks like a search light from a helicopter or something.

the parking signs are a bit distracting though

You could have achieved a dark feeling to the photos and still have the shirts highlighted by using harsher shadows and moodier lighting techniques. In general, I would say that the focus wasn't really the shirts. Now, if your objective was to indeed to highlight the shirts in a moody/raw kind of way, I would then say it was unsuccessful.

Try using direct flashes at more oblique angles to the subject. Maybe even a harsher back light to make the shirts pop a bit more. Gels could even help it out.

Keep it up!
