wtf? really? screw that, I am pretty sure our taxes paid for all those parks!
Does the permit cost money or is it just something you need to apply for?

Thanks Justin! the oof grass bothered me too, but that was the only angle I could find that had a line of sight on him, he was pretty hidden. I found him around burnaby lake after about an hour of searching, tiny little buggers.

I completely agree. GREAT shot, just too bad about the bent leaf/grass thing in the middle

Does anyone wanna give any CC or feedback on my last pic? lol I am a noob and could use some pointers! thankss

^ I don't know what the subject is supposed to be, sure it has some neat shapes/lines, but my eye is wandering around looking for something to jump out. I think I notice the forklift more than the roof, because there's only 1 of them.

ColinK 10-30-2008 07:00 PM

^ I concur

K-Dub 10-30-2008 09:44 PM

On a forum of mostly guys, no one said anything bout the girl on a "leash"?

Weird.

Weird.

It wasn't provocative enough... Now if she was in stilettos and a skanky outfit, you'd probably get a response.

hahaha j/k

roastpuff 10-31-2008 09:50 AM

Or if it was a proper leash... then some talk would happen. Not a trumped-up scarf. ;)

Yes, I'm sure. That's what we were taught by pretty much all the instructors. We went to go get a permit for one shoot that needed 2 strobes, softboxes and a generator just in case. I think it was free, you just have to get one. The worst penalty is a fine, but at worst you just get kicked out of the park. They are quite vigilant at QE Park because of all the wedding photogs there. By 'generator' I don't mean the gas powered ones...I mean the battery packs like the Profoto 7b.

workshop and let everyone play with various Lensbaby versions.
On Friday evening we will have a meet and greet with snacks and refreshments. On
Saturday we will be holding a workshop session where we will be introducing you
to Lensbabies. We will start off by showing you some samples of the effects you
can get with the various Lensbabies and then show you some tricks of the trade to
help you get started. Then we will let you loose with some loaner babies. You can
wander around town or the block depending how far and wide you want to walk.
Then come back and try another Lensbaby. This is a Free event so RSVP as soon as

Profoto Night at Beau.
Join us on Saturday November 22nd from 11.00 AM to 3:00 PM at Langara College for a Profoto Lighting Event.
Beau Photo Supplies and Blazes Photographic are presenting a Profoto Lighting “Info-Afternoon”. Come on down to Langara College and see what’s new and exciting from Profoto.
Check out the new Pro-8a Pack, and see what improvements have been made. Have a look at your portable options with the 7b, B2 and the AcuteB 600. Try out the D4, the Ultimate in studio lighting control. The D4 is a fully adjustable pack where you can even adjust your lighting output from your computer. Try out the compact line of monoblocks for those who prefer to shoot pack free.
A must see will be the new line of Profoto Giants. The Giant reflectors 180, 240 and 300 all feature a deep parabolic shape for even parallel light output. These reflectors give off a bright, even light and offer the photographer greater control in shaping the light. We will demo a giant reflector and a variety of other Profoto products. As well, we will have promotional pricing on all Profoto products and accessories. So come on down and be a part of this event.

Educators: Please note that special Educational Pricing will be in place for this event. So invite your decision making counterparts.

ColinK 11-03-2008 02:21 PM

butterfly, what's that mean? is that a brand of softbox?

Great lighting! :)

bikerx 11-03-2008 02:55 PM

^ its a type of lighting style to create a butterfly under the nose... basically softbox or light is above subjects head . creates even lighting and prevents dark eye sockets and stuff :)

ColinK 11-03-2008 03:50 PM

^ cool!

was playing around with geled flashes and a friend smoking sheesha

Here's an example of butterfly lighting on humans. The shadow under the nose is shaped kind of like a butterfly.
