Last night's sunset...it was unreal. This is a straight from camera jpeg with the TS-E 24mm & perspective corrected in lens.

What's the difference between that and the mk1? How much do they go for?

Armind 07-26-2009 12:47 AM

WOW! Love the last picture Senna

Love this one. Their expressions were captured very nicely! It's too bad you don't have right up close on their faces without the surrounding people!

Are you using a flash bracket for your indoor shots?

Thanks David. No I don't own a flash bracket. Their expressions were captured nicely but it would be a totally different shot if it was a close up and I don't think it would've been as good :P. I wanted to capture them and the party. Shooting just them you wouldn't know if it was inside or outside and why they were smiling, other than that they're getting married or just finished the ceremony. Here you can tell why they the are happy and the people they are enjoying it with :).

The mkII is sharper out in the corners, has more contrast and has negligible chromatic aberration. The mkI is very soft in the corners and has massive CA. You can also tilt and shift independently of one another with the mkII. I can't wait to get the 17mm in!

All the pros are dumping their mkI's and buying the mkII now. The lens is around $2400...$2200 if you have a CPS#.

The 24mm TS-E is fast becoming a favourite of mine! :)

I think i've seen the mk1s on fm going for $800 US. That's a big price difference!

Yeah, the mkI's were $1550 new. I think it's totally worth the extra cost if you have one of the full frame cameras.

I think I have more...I was shooting a lot of video of the lightning as I was walking home. The camera, lens and I got soaked, but the gear seems ok.

Is there a way of extracting a still shot from the video file?

not really a fan of the "miniature" look of the TS lenses. but love the distortion correction :D my old manager just bought a used one from you guys a few weeks ago

davidhtam 07-26-2009 09:07 AM

Senna, that sunset is amazing! The sky was on fire last night!

Here's a little candid i took at the park. I literally had one second to compose and snap this one. The dog kinda freaked out at the kid right after i took the shot.

Car Chick 07-26-2009 09:16 AM

nothing from last night?!!! i wanna see!!

Alatar 07-26-2009 09:59 AM

This was just a quick snapshot from my front door because I just had to have proof that it actually happened. :)

i know where you live ;)

Senna, with the TS lens, can you remove or greatly reduce the distortion that a wide angel makes?

Also, isn't there a wider TS lens than at 24mm? I'm looking for a way to get less distortion for my interior real estate photos, and that's the only one I've found.

Yes, the TS lens will get rid of perspective issues. You can also shift the lens and a take two or more different shots and stitch them together in software. This eliminates the distortion caused when panning the head to create stitched panoramics.

A 17mm TS-E was also released, but I haven't gotten one in yet. The front element is HUGE. One benefit of this lens is when you make a stitched image by shifting the lens, you get a 10mm FULL FRAME rectilinear image. Of course, the film/sensor must be perfectly aligned with the scene. This is an architectural photographer's wet dream.
