So I have a Casio G-Shock 5600 with Bluetooth and solar recharging, it's a Japan only model from 2014... I thought I had lost it after a trip to Calgary back in July, but randomly found it 3 weeks ago at the bottom of a bag it must have fallen into. I guess being in the dark for so long killed the battery on it, even if I left it sitting in the sunshine/light for days on end it would just say "CHG" on the screen. I had changed a similar type of battery on a ProTrek before, but decided since I was going to Japan I might as well bring the G-Shock with me and get it changed by a proper Casio tech there instead of troubling myself. Long story short I went to Yodobashi in Akihabara and talked to the Casio tech there, he told me that I just need to charge it. I told him I already did try that, it isn't holding a charge and I'm confident the battery needs to be replaced. He says no, no, it's impossible, the strap will break and many other things would happen long before that battery will ever die. After having an incredibly obtuse discussion with him for like 5 minutes I realized that basically what he's saying is that there's no way a Casio G-Shock battery will die, he won't replace it because replacing it admits that the watch has a fault and it's some weird Japanese pride in products thing in play here that I'll never be able to circumvent even though I am basically saying "Change it anyway and tell me what it costs"... he just can't or won't do it. Such a bizarre encounter. Anyway, I brought the watch home with me and found an extra CTL1616 I had around and with help from my phone to take pictures and zoom in on details and some decent lighting, was able to replace the battery and perform the AC reset myself and now it's good to go. It definitely was the battery, no matter what the Casio tech said or believes haha... https://i.imgur.com/ffl9IMj.jpg |

It's actually kind of fun to work on it, just extremely tedious and uncomfortable if you don't have the right setting (desk height) and tools |

Im gonna parle vous $$$$ with the rolex schmuck in Montreal today. Hopefully these seperatist bastards arent AS loaded as the ones in Vancouver and maybe they'll have some inventory for daytona's |
Are you at Chateau D'Ivoire or Maison Birks? :lol |

Yah I was lucky when I bought the CTL1616 off eBay I ordered 2 cuz the shipping didn't increase at all... official battery too, not a knockoff. They don't seem all that easy to get locally unless you wanna pay like $75+ from Amazon |

I have stopped in Rolex Boutiques in a bunch of different countries on my travels and have never found the answer to be much different than Vancouver, but YMMV. My Daytona is my happy place on my wrist, it just feels perfect to me, hope you get one! -Mark |

One can only imagine they only sell to people who kicks back cash to them |
https://i.postimg.cc/j5VXRTj1/IMG-2507.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/DZqcZNJw/IMG-2508.jpg I went to this chateau place and I got offered this piece but with a 10k markup. They won’t even let me take picture of it on my wrist to show my wife. I’m not sure if this is a good deal or not with this 10k markup. https://www.rolex.com/watches/cosmog...a/m126509-0003 I just looked at chrono24 and it’s the same price so for sure it’s jacked up. They said the 10k is because I’m able to purchase it from them with no spending history and because it’s a desirable watch blah blah blah. https://www.chrono24.ca/rolex/rolex-...id25028829.htm What’s the big deal here. Retail is like 50k. I’m missing the Daytona as then my Rolex collection will be more or less complete. I got the datejust, submariner, daydate, and Cellini He gave me till tomorrow to think about it. Then the offer is rescinded |
Honestly I think $10k over MSRP for one of the least desirable configurations of Daytona is fucked to me. $50,200 + $10k + taxes = nearly $70k. You can go buy yourself a stainless Panda grey market new for under $40k. -Mark |

I would also pass on that 126509 with a $10k markup. If it was the 126529 then I would pay the markup |
I’ve been up all night thinking about this piece of shit watch. I talked to the wife. I talked to my buddies and I even talked to the chihuahuas. The Chihuahuas had the best answer. They just titled their heads like why do dis? I think I’m gonna pass on the watch but just in case I get a case of bad bad regrets I will throw a deposit down on it and hold it for a week or two. I’m not sure how long I should hold it to make up my mind but maybe I’ll plop like 10k down to show them I’m serious. Arrrgh it’s 6am here and I’ve been up since 4am |
Dude you were complaining about replacing tires on your LC if you went to autocross... and an ugly watch marked up $10k is keeping you up? |
Ugly will double, if not, triple in value in 20 years. |

This watch is even more stupid…. But I did throw down the deposit today. They forced me to do 25k. Aka half the value of retail price |
It's Badhobz world, we're all just living in it |
Badhobz World: Damn watch store wanted me to deposit $25,000 for an ugly watch Rest of World: Can't afford food and rent, and out of work. Life is not fair :lol |
Is the deposit refundable or a store credit for a future purchase? Just buy now and think later :D I think that watch would look a lot better with the ceramic bezel but that's only available with the oysterflex bracelet. |
Refundable. But they are only willing to hold for 2 weeks. So before Xmas. The dude kept saying stuff like they have clients who spent hundreds of thousands and they weren’t even offered this watch. Blah blah blah. Fuck. |
That sounds like an awful buying experience. I don't know why people put themselves through that, paying lots of money to do so |

I must have this big fucking sign that says ChUMP on my back because retailers love me. I went to a few AD in Hong Kong a month ago and they basically all laughed me out of the store when I asked about the Daytona. Some did have DJs but most laugh lawled in your face. |
Get a Zenith, cooler anyway. And wasn't it the first automatic chronograph? And these were the movements used by Rolex before going in-house https://shop.zenith-watches.com/medi...0.69.m3100.png 99% of anyone who sees you wearing a Daytona will assume it's fake anyway... LUL |
