Same for me, almost bought it a few times... then I saw it in person at The Bay in Richmond one day while passing through and was like... ohhh that's what it looks like in real life, I want... it's regular $300, the boxing day sale it was down to $210 so I pulled the trigger

I usually prefer dark faced watches based purely on the the aesthetics of the watch itself, but am finding in reality that lighter faced ones are much easier to match with outfits for myself

I definitely prefer black dials, but there are a few specific white dial watches that I am crazy about. Including that Panerai, and also the Explorer II. Both those just nail it

I'd have to try some on though, because when I've tried on white dials, they kind of clash with my style. I generally only wear dark monotone colours, and have tattoos. Maybe the contrast is supposed to work, but I think it looked weird when I tried.

Beautiful looking watch. I love these Casioaks.
At 210 bucks that’s a steal !!!

I think this is where you can take advantage of a white dial and have fun with it because it will stand out as a nice compliment or gentleman's accessory. Definitely catch the eye of other watch buffs and enthusiasts alike. :)

Been awhile since I’ve browsed around thrift stores for watch finds. Picked up this Seiko Sea Urchin for $31. The glass was really badly scratched up and I didn’t like the wear on bezel insert because I’m ocd like that...

Picked up a new bezel insert for $30 shipped and spent $5 from Aliexpress for some diamond polishing paste. Sanded it down first with 400, 800, 1000, 2000 & 3000 grit. It would have been much easier to just replace the crystal but I wanted to learn how to restore Hardlex crystals.

The results are alright but I’m waiting for my shipment of cerium oxide to smooth it out. So there you have it... polishing mineral and hardlex crystal is possible but takes a bit of work

Up next, upgrading the 7S36 movement with an NH36

Wow beautiful!

You should do YT videos!!

What brand thrift stores do you usually go to for watch perusal?

rb 01-26-2024 12:59 PM

Picked this up at Value Village in Maple Ridge. I frequent a few in the tri-cities area like Crossroads, Eagle Ridge Hospital thrift, Salvation Army.

A former work colleague was too good for thrift stores until he saw my finds. He scored a vintage Tudor oysterprince, a vintage Oris divers and an Omega Constellation quartz from the Value Village in Richmond lol. Think he paid less than $30 per watch. This was a few years ago though as they now check the values before pricing

68style 01-26-2024 02:28 PM

Yah I'm not expecting to ever find anything that valuable... but it would be cool to find a Seiko or Citizen or something like that to tinker with!

SkinnyPupp 01-26-2024 02:31 PM

Nice restoration. Is the NH36 plug and play, or do you have to modify anything? I couldn't stand not being able to wind a watch, so it seems like a worthwhile upgrade.

rb 01-26-2024 03:06 PM

Yeah, aside from removing the crown and swapping in the stem from the NH36, it's a straight swap

68style 01-30-2024 10:48 AM

I was off yesterday, went around to a couple salvation army and value village before lunchtime to have a boo... lol... mostly ladies watches everywhere... the value village in Richmond did have a Seiko 5 automatic sports watch, but when I was testing the settings the day of the week was just clicking and wouldn't rotate... and they wanted $70 for it? Passsss

I did grab a couple of women's fashion watches, was going to take them apart and try to make something custom for my gf for fun like $8 each haha

Badhobz 01-30-2024 10:58 AM

you mean like that blingy thingy that trollyface made?

68style 01-30-2024 11:44 AM

No…. it’s at least 50% bigger

AstulzerRZD 01-30-2024 07:46 PM

Wanted something that came across a bit artsier than the standard sub.

Up next: Tried on a Daytona and 15202, didn't really like how either looked on my wrist so I'm hunting for a Speedmaster Marui / CK2998 and a black dial 15500.

Badhobz 01-30-2024 08:15 PM

ahhh Santos. a solid purchase!

68style 01-30-2024 08:57 PM

If you want health and fitness tracking while wearing a watch, the Oura ring’s a great complement. Must size up since your fingers expand during exercise/it has bumps for the sensor

Even more baller. Looks like First Class Suite on Japanese Airlines if my guesstimate is correct. :ahwow:

Being the complete opposite (poor), got my new pleb watch today.

Like the look. Super lightweight.
Tough solar for unlimited power and automatic atomic time syncing.
Buttons are bit mushy though. Oh well.

A lot of watch blogs seeing the popularity of the CasiOak and declaring that combination analog and digital watches are gonna be a big trend!

Arnie way ahead of the curve as usual!

https://timeandtidewatches.com/wp-co...e-asset-2.jpeg

That's actually part of why I bought the C3 originally in 2007

https://www.javys.com/casio/images/w.../G-011D-1A.jpg

Analog and digital were always a bit off eventually though, since they weren't perfectly precise

Apparently these sell on Ebay for like $200-300? :considered:

Edit: Found it! And it's still running! The digital was off by about 4 minutes since it was last set, analog over 10 minutes.

It takes a long ass time to set the hands, since they only go one direction, and very slowly

It's supposed to stop automatically at whatever the digital time is set to, but for some reason it passed it by... 10 minutes... and I had to do it over again
