nuooooooooooooooooo

So, I do not like Tag Heuer watches at all... just a personal preference, I feel a great sense of MEH whenever I see one.

But I do like this purple release... photos always gussy them up so much, perfect lighting and make colours look way deeper or more interesting than they really are, but if it's even remotely like that in real life it looks pretty sweet.

I have no idea who or what situation you would wear this colour in, but geez it's nice to look at.

Mr Jones makes some pretty funny watches.

That said, I bought one for my gf and it's totally unusable as a watch hahaha

Got a local guy recommended to me who is gonna do a OEM 7S26 swap, new gaskets, and pressure tested for $200.

$280 if I wanted the nh36 but I would have to get an aftermarket crown. It's a screw down crown anyway so I probably wouldn't manually hand wind it much anyway.

Citizen did the 'retro plastic watch' thing like Swatch is doing, with the Bulova Snorkel

https://i.imgur.com/cUgM8Ye.png

MSRP $350 though :heckno:

Cheaper than the Blancpain I guess

sonick 01-28-2025 03:02 PM

lol Bulova isn't even expensive why would they even bother doing a cheapo release that costs as much as their normal watches

SkinnyPupp 01-28-2025 03:19 PM

Yeah part of the draw of the Swatch watches is being able to get a $10K watch that is "real" from the actual same manufacturer for $300 or whatever

Citizen is doing it the other way around, selling a $250 brand for $350 LUL

rb 01-29-2025 12:32 AM

One of my favorite watches that I've owned was the Bulova Lunar Pilot and even that was only $380. I've always liked the Devil Diver but you can pick up an original vintage one in decent condition for $400-$500

SkinnyPupp 01-29-2025 12:54 AM

How much would a plastic version of the Lunar Pilot be? $600? LUL

I like it too, but not with a 60 minute timer

Rolex shuts down the Carl F. Bucherer brand. They bought the company in 2023 for their extensive worldwide network of stores more than the watch brand, so I guess there was no point in keeping that going. Bucherer fans, get ready to buy a Celini err I mean 1908!

Their peripheral rotor was really fucking cool

bcrdukes 02-07-2025 05:43 PM

I must see this new 1908 in the flesh!

68style 02-08-2025 01:22 PM

I want to see the 1908 in person too... I love it, but I can't afford it... way crazy price range.

I bought the Yema equivalent (colour palette wise) when it was on clearance.

I'm curious if the 1908 is not anywhere near as blue in real life as it is in pictures though... that was true of the Yema for sure (still love it though).

New Panerai model! PAM01628 PogChamp

https://www.panerai.com/content/dam/.../image%201.jpg

Most of the models they have been adding are tiny 40mm women's watches, but this one is a big boy at the original 47mm size. Note the matte finish of the case

The closest Rolex model to this is probably the 6152.1 from 1963, when they first modified the Rolex case with the crown guard, along with LUMINOR on the dial. This one had the Cortebert 618 movement as opposed to the version that used the Angelus 240 8 day clock movement (the ones with the seconds hand at 9)

5 years later, the Italian navy would no longer order from Rolex and Panerai. Almost everything they did after that was an homage of these beautiful Rolex watches with Panerai dials.

When I go to watch forums like reddit and WUS, I see a lot of people having problems with their new Marathons. Hate to say it but their QC doesn't seem to be great lately. They do cover you though if something is wrong.

SkinnyPupp 02-15-2025 12:47 AM

These are always interesting, especially the "vs 2023"

Rolex up again, and Cartier

Interestingly the independents AP, Patek, Richard Mille are all up

Everything else down basically.

So I recently found out that Angelus is still around, now owned by Citizen after they bought La Joux-Perret. Angelus is pretty important to Panerai fans, as they started using the movement first in their own design prototypes in the 1950s, and then in their Rolexes for a while before the Navy stopped putting in orders. These are the ones with the small seconds hands at 9.

They used the Angelus 240, a mini alarm clock movement with an 8 day power reserve that had been around since the 1930's. It was small enough to be used in alarm watches, so this is what they used (without the alarm).

They even put out some special edition Angelus 240 powered models in the 00's, with completely refinished and modified movements, I guess left over from the 50's.

They still have some 8 day models, but those are using the P.5000

Bros I think I found my new dream watch. I love the classic+modern design elements

https://i.imgur.com/r7RzlSD.png

It has a very cool dark titanium case and even the bridges on the movement are titanium

https://i.imgur.com/oLIKJ3J.png

Looks like it costs around 15K

Badhobz 02-21-2025 09:28 PM

That’s legitimately epic!

68style 02-22-2025 02:12 PM

Angelus is a cool watch brand vibe had a hardon for their ivory vitesse for awhile:

https://angelus-watches.com/collecti...se-ivory-white

In a similar vein I like Vulcain’s stuff and the history of the cricket watch is pretty fascinating:

New Moonswatch "1965 edition" to commemorate the something. It's not another limited edition

https://www.watchtime.com/wp-content...rface_2025.jpg

They changed the subdials so one reads 19 and one reads 65.

This was the perfect opportunity to turn the 60 minute subdial into a 19 minute one, with minute markings which would have made it actually useful as a chronograph. Instead, they made it a 19 hour counter, and turned the 60 minute counter into an even more useless 65 minute one.

Oh well
