Yah the earth phase is pointless.. like... I know it's still sunny out where I am based on the time of day already thanks. It's just a way to get some colour on the dial and the lume is pretty sweet, the waters of the earth glow blue... so just a showy piece. It's ineresting Hobz you don't like light watches, I also get annoyed by that in certain instances. I want to feel a bit of something, especially if it's metal. Even my actual plastic watches the G-Shocks I have, the weight is about right on them somehow. I got a titanium dive watch in the mail the other day that I honestly thought I would love as in the photos online it had all the colours I like and features seemed well done, but not even 30 seconds out of the box when it arrived I knew I hated it and a major part of it was the complete lack of weight which is of course partly because it's titanium. I just immediately packed it back up and initiated a return. |
It’s probably because I’m used to big heavy watches. When I go back to an ultra light one, it feels strange to me. I have that swatch x blancpain one in yellow and it’s just like this moon swatch. It’s super duper light. I haven’t really worn it since I bought it in Hong Kong last year. It just doesn’t feel right |
Part of why I like to wear the Panerai so much is the feel of a big heavy watch on my wrist so I know it's there. Not the most comfortable in the hot humid summer, but around the house and in the winter it's great. I tried on a titanium Sinn U1 and it was so cool though. A big 44mm diver that felt like nothing was really neat to wear. I get it though |
Yah I think its really model specific?? I have a titanium Seiko 36mm that I really love despite it being very lightweight... but this watch I ordered online the other day it was the Timex dive watch and it just didn't live up to my expectations at all and felt so cheap. |
Oh yeah an expensive titanium lightweight watch will feel a lot better than a cheap plated brass Timex for sure. Even though it's light, titanium feels solid and.. well I hate putting it this way, but "high quality". The brass Timex watches look ok in pictures, but quite cheap. I imagine the stainless models aren't that much better either. |
This particular Timex was a titanium... just didn't work for me... the watch community was celebrating it as a coup especially what you're getting for the price and with all of Timex's discount codes was able to do 25% off it had to wait months for it to be back in stock actually... I was drawn in by the tiffany blue/mint markers and specs... but when it was actually in hand the markers were like glow in the dark green less sophisticated looking than the photos and the automatic winding was super noisy... crown had a weird dodgy feel to it. Just not what I thought it would be and hte super light feel didn't help things. This one: https://timex.ca/products/deepwater-...atch-tw2w73800 |
Oh yeah that actually looks pretty nice in the photos.. Too bad! |

^i didnt even get pass the error 404 page. It kept saying I was in the right place, but I was early, then when I finally got to the page it was sold out already. bitch ass timex |
Does citizen or bulova have any interesting watches? My wife has 56% off their watches via her Best Buy employee discount right now haha |

Accutron is their most unique watch, but then you're in the $3000 range There's TONS of Citizens, from classic design to mall watch. The "Tsuyosa" line is very classic and popular. They also have some great divers, including some titanium. I imagine Best Buy will mostly carry their high tech quartz watches, which might limit your choices away from classic designs, but I think they are still pretty cool |

What are the odds of someone buying an AP Royal Oak locally? A friend of mine just picked one up supposedly at MSRP. |
its possible for sure. even certain rolexes were available in HONG KONG... HONG KONG MAN!!! i was able to purchase a daydate in full gold and diamonds but the wife said I don't have enough chest hair to wear such a watch Go to the rolex AD in Lee Garden #2 and look for a guy named Tony. Tell him the fat fuck who turned down the Rolex DayDate recommend you and I'm sure you can get it DJ is also available along with a two-tone sub. |
I have 2 separate friends picking up DJ41 / black Submariner at MSRP in the last 6 months without previous history. They talked about CPA graduation / wedding gift to husband and they got a call back within 3 months. The mark-up for the above is less than $1-2K after taxes, so maybe that's why it's easier. Quote:
Idk when's a good time to pull a trigger for a $10K watch or a $30K watch, I like to daily 1-2 watches, desk bang them and not have to worry about resale/theft. My tax racket says I stay with Tudor and upgrade to GS when I 2x networth or something. |

to be honest, I think its all relative to the individual. Some people use a watch to commemorate a milestone (like dark who bought his DJ because he broke 100k that year), while others buy watches to collect. Some buy it just because they love the mechanical movements or the design. I don't think its always has to be a status symbol or an indication of wealth. Just buy what you like and don't squirrel it away. In the end its just a watch. |
The best time to pull the trigger is now. If you know you won't wear it. Don't buy it. Do something else with that money. Or be like Badhobz. Just buy because you can. |
I didn't want a Patek, but my German friend gave me his allocation because he was a bit short on cash when they called him. He was on that list in Hamburg for YEAARRRSSSS. i just happen to be there at the right time. If you have the means, just do it. I don't anyone who bought a milestone watch and then regretted it. Unless you're like 69 style who cant seem to make up his mind on whether or not he wants to go with mainstream brands or niche, one off, art pieces. |
shit this is the real baller thread... i was getting bored of my huawei gen 1 watch and wanted to go back to a normal watch and just picked up a mechanical open heart fossil watch for like $120. too embarassed to post it here :lol i'm happy with it though. |
Okay, I'll set a new milestone before I buy the next one. Any ideas? The Tudor was to commemorate CPA, got it for almost 32% below retail new, love me a good deal. I think I'd only buy a $10-20K+ watch if I knew I could get it at Retail and used market holds value. otherwise will buy Grand Seiko's and let them depreciate as a family heirloom |
Meh. You should buy a Rolex cuz you jerked off this morning. That’s my excuse. I’m not the sentimental kind. Nor am I the kind to buy something and never wear it. I wore a Costco track suit and met up with the toys in the hitlerbox, in mission, to eat at some burger dump with my Patek. |
The only thing I hate about Rolex's is when people go "Is that a ROLEX?" then they immediately think you have money or something. Stupid thing about owning nice watches young, most people finance it lool |
Yeah the Rolex brand is toxic, even if they make some damn fine watches |
I think I'm pivoting my holy grail 3 piece to GS Pink Snowflake Speedy Snoopy 40th Anniversary (Would get a rep) JLC Reverse / vintage tank / Kanji Seiko Honestly, also want a AP + Chocolate DJ41 just for the sake of scratching the itch like a 911, then sell it! |

I’m more of an omega guy myself so any speedy I think is the perfect start to collection. gs is good but niche and nobody knows what it is other than if you know you know guys. |
