Yeah, it was the WD one. But enclosuers are cheap. $40 bucks for a nice one and you have an external 500gb drive for around $190 taxes in.

So a few weeks back I sent my Tamron 17-50 back for a warranty repair. No big deal, the lens was fine it was just a little locking tab on the side had stopped grabbing. I go to the store to pick it up today, and I checked the invoice to see what they did. Its says "Action taken: replaced lens" is that normal? instead of just repairing it they just send me a new one?

I hope this one is as sharp as the last one

I beat all of you so far for slowest editing computer :D.

Ouch...270GB HD space is...rough. I've got ten times that on just my main system.

Grab yourself some HDs...they're so cheap these days.

I'm looking at getting some wireless flashes here soon for when I shoot indoors and cars etc at night. From what I understand, I'll need a 550ex on the camera, and then 420 ex's as slaves right? the 550 "controls" the 420s? am I missing anything? Is there any other combination out there besides canon's flashes? (shooting with an XTi)

You should have gotten a Nikon or Sony. They have their wireless controllers built into the cameras. You can use Pocketwizards too.

so i'm travelling for a month to taiwan.
3 weeks spent on tour, both on campus and on the road, going through all of taiwan.
1 week spent with relatives.

i will be taking a camera with me, nikon d70s. can't miss out on great photo opportunities.

BUT... i'm not sure what the best way to upload/store my pictures..

i could bring my macbook pro+card reader...but it's a lot of expensive stuff i'm going to be keeping on me/in my backpack at all times.

anyone have any tips, pointers, past experiences?

[HuCk DuCk] 06-24-2007 07:02 PM

there's photo storage devices. hold like 60gbs....just plug the card into the device and it dl's all the pics...something like that.....justin's got one up in the B&S

K-Dub 06-25-2007 06:27 PM

i know about those things, but at like ...200~ that's kind of pricey...

last year i went away for a week to florida and i had a cheaper..ish sort of solution. i found a usb thing that connected two usb devices together. i brought my external, card reader, and this usb connecter.

problem is, i went for a week and i already had qualms about it. it worked fine when i came home and checked the folders and all that, but i don't want to risk doing the procedure for a whole month, very risky.

any other solutions? or should i just bring my macbook.. i'm contemplating it, i'll just have to see if i have a nice backpack or go buy one at MEC for it...

ColinK 06-25-2007 11:15 PM

laptops are good. or else if you dont wanna buy an external drive you'll have to goto internet cafe's and upload the pictures somewhere which could take a few hours in itself...

Senna4ever 06-27-2007 06:20 PM

EEeeewwww...it's 33 degrees and humid here in T.O. Bleh!

Meowjin 06-30-2007 03:37 AM

I havn't shot any landscapes in week! Tommorwo is a new day for me :D

I also found a sony w55 at the club, so now I need to find a charger. Also I can't stop laughing because there are some fucked up photos on this camera.

Senna4ever 06-30-2007 06:42 AM

Post the pics!

...or show hem to me at the next meet! :D

PS....it was pissing rain here in Banff when I got here last night, but it's sunny & warm now. Going to take lots of landscapes today! :D

PPS.... Majin...do you have the Cokin Z series filters?

Meowjin 06-30-2007 11:24 AM

I think I have the x series... the top of the line one.

Senna4ever 06-30-2007 08:50 PM

Isn't the X Series a bit big? You thinking of buying a 8x10 camera or something?

Senna4ever 07-02-2007 10:42 PM

I bought these at a gift shop in Banff. They're so good, I had about 15 pieces!

...then I read the label on the bottom...

no the x-series is just the top of the line series. It's ment for the wide of the wide (16mm) and the filters are usually better quality, and made of a more clearer as you say plastic.
