For non-raw, I personally like Sevens and Levi's. And Nudie's non-raw styles.

I'll check out Naked&Famous. I saw a few while looking around at Holt Renfrew.

I hear Dutil is the mecca for jeans in Vancouver. Besides raw denim, would they also carry Nudie's non-raw styles?

I'm convinced that I should try out raw as well. Could I have some recommendations as well? (I have googled some brands but I have no idea what's good and not).

For raw denim, other options would be anything from abcdenim like Big John, Tellason, Rogue Territory. Really curious about Big John especially with their history and from Japan. Or consider spending $50 more and get some 3sixteens from Self Edge or use a coupon code if you can and get it from Revolve.

Dutil's all MSRP, not many sales there, I find.

But they're kind of the go-to place if there's a specific pair you're looking for.

Cuff them to minimize stains.

Imo, raw jeans shouldn't be 'treasured' but worn out, because it's only then that you get really nice jeans. For my first pair of raws (first pair of expensive denim), I was always careful wearing it and after a year ish, the fades were still very minimal. Got another pair a while later, and wore them out and after a year-ish, it had much nicer and more distinct fades.

For your first pair of raws, I would give N&F a shot. If you are interested in crazy fades, then do some research to see which colours fade better (iirc, regular indigo fades pretty slow). Other good first-pair brands are APC, Nudies and unbranded (sold at Urban Outfitters and I think Plenty)

Non raw jeans: I like wings + horns and LVC (Levis vintage clothing). Other nice ones that are a bit pricier are PRPS and Dior Homme.

Just started a Nudie Grim Tim 46-dip selvedge.. and holy fuck are these stiff.
Wish me luck :concentrate:

lol serious? so it actually tore through the patch?

i'd just get a new pair man haha 5 years is antique

CorneringArtist 09-14-2012 09:40 PM

Just picked up a pair of NF Slim Guy Tweed Selvedge via Tate and Yoko. 40 waist so I jumped on that shit. Can't wait to switch from generic jeans haha. I get it might fit a little slim, but that's what the wear-in period is for right?

So. Damn. Stiff.

This is my first new pair in almost 2 years, I forgot how rough fresh raw denim is.

It feels like wearing cardboard. I sized down too, so this is going to take quite a bit of work to break in.

dasani604 09-17-2012 12:46 AM

Got a pair of Levi's Made and Crafted black jeans from Dutil. It feels great and it has the right tightness/tapered look.

Didn't have enough time to find a blue pair but I'll look more into N&F. Thanks for all the help guys.

What are you guy's experience with suede shoes and raw jeans?

Does the denim color bleed on to the suede if it rains? I have a pair of 8.5 clark's desert boot in beewax, which im going to be posting to sell and get a pair of the clark's gray distressed suede.

Yeah the ink will bleed like any other material. It just depends on how 'bleedy' the jeans are. You probably shouldn't be wearing suede in the rain anyways since suede gets stained by water.

zetazeta 09-24-2012 10:32 AM

ugh my APC PS stretched so much in the thigh area... looks baggy as fuck. Might sell it and get a 28..

On the other hand... any suggestions as to what type of boots look nice with raws? I'm currently looking into H by Hudson, wolverine, and maybe clark's DB's. Preferably chukkas or db's.

kazuki 09-24-2012 12:33 PM

I think h by hudson is awesome for the price.

Energy 09-24-2012 12:39 PM

^^ Yeah in my experience APCs don't really keep their shape well over time.

ForbiddenX 09-24-2012 02:37 PM

Check out Red Wing boots as well. They've got quality boots.

From simpletrheads :

They have a lot of different styles too.

Looking at getting 875's sometime this week! They have a store right across metro

J.C 09-24-2012 10:18 PM

thinking about trying out some raw denim i have a few questions

do i wash them regularly?
is it worth going raw if i just wear these normally? i tend to never drop anything on my jeans or damage them. so there's not going to be a lot of personalization

sorry for the noob questions
