They're just a bit darker than the regular beeswax due to the mink oil. I think the lighting/editing made them look a bit navy

instantneedles 04-22-2012 11:12 AM

lol forbidden, the crotch blow out is bound to happen anytime soon, its just a matter of time. Give or take 1 week of daily wear and it'll happen...Crotch blowouts suck, I still have to repair mine :okay:

In pic 1 where the rear rise wants to ride up your ass is that normal? I have a pair of levis rigid that does the same thing don't know if I should return them.

buddy 04-24-2012 11:12 AM

picked up a pair of raw Levi's 514 at Urban Outfitters last weekend, on sales at $39 +tax, the least money I ever spent on a pair of jeans, they are my first pair of raw denim thought I might as well start off with something cheaper .. lol ..

I sized down 1 size since I am under the impressions they all stretch out more or less ... I read the care label after I got home and it says the jeans should be dry cleaned since they will shrink ...

now I am all confused thinking if I should return for a pair that's tts or even 1 size bigger?

any inputs?

instantneedles 04-24-2012 11:17 AM

If it is indeed raw, it should stretch back after you wear them. The only thing you should watch for though, is the inseam length. That will shrink quite a bit, I'd say around 1.5cm - 2cm depending on the material. But even then, when you bend down and stuff, it will put pressure on the knee area and it will lengthen out a tad bit more... I'd say stay with what you got... The most important thing is that the waist is not too loose to start off with or else it will get too big when you wear them out..

buddy 04-24-2012 11:44 AM

hmmm ... I didn't see the terms "raw" or "selvedge" on the label, it mentioned the jeans are "waterless" and a warning about the jeans will bleed ... so are they still considered raw denim? they are rigid to touch and have that wax kinda look ....

fuhkyu 04-25-2012 12:33 AM

fk crotch blow forming on my apc's :( i figure only about 3 weeks until it blows, need to get it fixed asap too bad no other jeans fit LOL

There should be a paper tag that says Rigid. Similar to the ones they use to post the price on. If they don't then they probably aren't raw and selvedge you can just check the outseam. Waterless is just some new thing they're doing to reduce water usage when making their jeans.

Noooooooooooo!!! Not always! :okay:

A lot of manufacturers were trying to pull off the "selvedge" outseam on their jeans when in reality, the material itself was not true selvedge. (Ulic taught me this and it saved me a few times!) :D

P.S - Can anybody recommend a place for selvedge denim repair? My 4 year old Nudie Regular Ralf's finally blew its crotch. :(

instantneedles 04-25-2012 08:48 AM

^seems like everybodys getting crotch blowouts

Yes, and they'll look better afterwards.

Of course! Gives more story and adds more character to them :fullofwin:

I'm trying to stick to 1 pair a year.. though last year I did 2 pairs. :concentrate: So far my NF's for 2012 have been to Seattle, China, and starting to get a very distinct wallet fade from the new bike I just bought :spin:

areyounoob 04-25-2012 02:08 PM

Just noticed that my N&F jeans have chainstitching across the waistband, yet none on the leg opening. :suspicious:

woob 04-25-2012 02:31 PM

^ odd. My SGs came chain-stitched at the leg opening and waist.

areyounoob 04-25-2012 11:26 PM

:suspicious:

Are they one of the special runs or the normal ones? Mine are the natural indigo ones.
