about your thread.

NanaimoRx-7, those look really good. Personally I kind of dig the old school look of the stock wheels though, and would look at cleaning up those small rust spots first. They look great though, so if you pick up a set, I wanna see!

I think a set of Panasports would be sweet on you car...they're old school looking and pretty light weight...but you shouldn't get the gold centered ones because they only look right on certain cars.

Which years/models of 1st gens had 13b's? is your's a 13b, NaanaimoRx-7?

Pedestrian X 06-24-2002 11:17 PM

84-85 gsl-se

bcty 06-24-2002 11:19 PM

no its not.. but his carb rules!! :)

Pedestrian X 06-24-2002 11:20 PM

i beleive there is also a few rare jap model first gens (from japan of course) that came stock wiht turbo's

CanadianRX7 06-24-2002 11:51 PM

umm i think all the first gens from japan were turbo just like how all the secodn gens from japan are only made turbo..The reason our cars are called Turbo II is becuase the 1st gens had a Turbo model and they didnt want the same name for the 2nd gen.

Timpo 06-25-2002 07:39 AM

What? 1st gen had turbo model in Canada:confused:

bcty 06-25-2002 11:55 AM

no first gens came with a turbo stock

There was a 12A Turbo first gen model sold in Japan, and the was also another....the Elford

Elfords were a Mazda dealer in Southern England who decided to add a turbo to the RX at the same time many US firms were going down the same track. They persuaded Mazda UK to support the project as RX sales were poor due to the numerous local sports cars. As a result several dealers sold and serviced them with Mazda's blessing. About 450 were sold. The important point from memory it did not destroy the Mazda warranty.

The engine retained normal compression but added a Garrett TO4 Turbo providing a very low pressure of 6lbi, running through a modified exhaust system.

Series 1 used SU carbs putting out 160bhp@6000 rpm, equivalent to the first series of the Jspec 12at. Turbo charging was still in its infancy and the set up beacame very unreliable and lumpy. Some were changed to run Webber 45s.

Series II was a great improvement with EFI, a redesigned manifold and exhaust system- series I exhausts were hopeless they burned out quickly. Power was up marginally, but it was more trouble free without some of the flat spots with the carb. Starting was no problem like the S.I

Both series had a squared off air dam with built in fog lamps, if you used them as driving lights the Police picked you up. There were bigger wheels and tires but not too dramatic as they were few low profiles.

To put them in perspective they were equivalent to a mildly ported gsl-se,
in some ways the turbo was a bit of a sales gimmick. Latter on a few were modified by their owners with 180-200 hp.

Timpo 06-25-2002 09:24 PM

Are you getting turbo for your RX-7:)

Pedestrian X 06-25-2002 09:30 PM
