Aaron, when you get that RB exhaust just come up to my house or something. I wanna hear it real bad on my old beast.
Just got my 2 new rear tires on. 225/45ZR17 Khumo Supra Ecsta 712's. So far they are awesome. In the rain they don't break lose as easy as my old tires, can still spin em in 2nd, not sure about 3rd, but I can give it more throttle and even some boost in 2nd before they spin. So now I gotta pay back my mom some money and then get my front tires on eventually.
later

			here's a couple stupid/easy Q's for you people....
1) I was in Can-Tire today, looking at the book for filters for an oil change. Anyways, there were 2 motors listed for 85. a 1.1 liter and a 1.3... I have a 12a carbed 85 GS. What is mine?
2) what would use more gas? cruising at 50 km/h in 3rd gear @ ~3000 rpm using less throttle, or cruising in 4th at ~1900 rpm and using more throttle for hill and what not, or even 5th at 50kmh?
Stupid, I know, but thank in advance

			12a is 1.1L
And I'd bet 4th would use less gas, but might be useless unless your around town and not going up a lot of hills. Just use the highest gear possible while being able to maintain speed and accelerate a bit I guess.
And as a note, please remember to rev that baby out from time to time, gotta clear out the carbon deposits and all

I'd keep it in third. You'll find it's easier to drive through traffic that way, and it will save you downshifting every time you need some response.
I'd guess that the difference in gas used would be small enough that it wouldn't be worth driving in a mushy gear for the speed. |

I spend most of my time in 4th, and downshift when needed....a simple 4 -> 3 shift is hardly worth mentioning for the effort involved, and you will save gas that way.
then again I am almost never going 50km/h.....I am usually going 55 - 60km/h so there will be a little difference there.

I find cruising above 2500 much better for most driving. 2000RPM in 4th doesn't have much power, but it great for cruising mostly flat territory. You'll get a feel for it, I also drive at a higer RPM with less throttle I can't stand the sound out the engine bogging.

But I remember what the NA was like, had to use 3rd to climb hills unless going fast enough. NA in 4rth at 2krpm = very boggish if trying to accel so dropping a gear is best I say, higher rpm make easier driving. Oh and that burn on Ty was GOLDEN!

Hmm, anyone good with starters around here? When I run my starter on the bench it works fine. When I put it in the car it either doesn't do anything, or if you hook it up differently it spins but won't reliably engage the flywheel. I inspected the teeth on both the starter and flywheel, both are fine. I'm starting to think that the signal line that goes into the solenoid (Black with yellow strip for the 1st gen folks) is not working, and so when I can get it to spin I'm basically bypassing the solenoid, which can't be good. Other than that the bendix is fine and I can't see any other problems. It is possible that it is a bad ground and I'm going to make a nice heavy-duty ground kit to see if there is any difference.
              Grant
P.S. I may just wire that signal lead into a button in the cock-pit, which I've often though would be pretty sweet.
