Garde Manger 9/10

Started off with a small seafood platter which included raw oysters, raw scallops, smoked raw artic char

https://s17.postimg.org/b6u6uqj7z/16...67240455_n.jpg[/url]

then as a main I shared the famous Lobster Poutine with the g/f

https://s18.postimg.org/afxdc2teh/16...34773497_n.jpg

Chez Delmo 9/10

Decided to start with the lobster Bisque in the front and Foie Gras in the back

https://s28.postimg.org/5l5qz0lql/lobster_bisque.jpg

I ended up getting frogs legs as the main which were fried and then brushed with garlic butter (they melted in my mouth they were so good)

https://s9.postimg.org/4kx90h1y7/frogs_legs.jpg

The g/f ended up getting Salmon Tartare and she beyond loved it

If you haven't guessed yet but I was in Montreal this past weekend and I ended up my trip by getting the best sandwich I have had in my entire fricken life!!

That's fucking rad!

Was in Calgary and went to Blink which was just a few steps away from the Hyatt

Took pics but too lazy to bother uploading them and linking.

I'll say that the portions are rather small for the price you pay. A meatless risotto and grilled octopus came out to 54 bucks with tip. wtf.

The food tasted really good though and the service warm and welcoming.

I'd give this place a 8.5/10

if anyone is in calgary and wants good eats their website is here:

Blink Restaurant & Bar

Just go in maybe half hungry and you'll be good.

Had an Oyster Po Boy from Fish Counter. First one I had since last fall. I dunno if they changed anything but it's even better than ever. Bread was so soft on the inside and had a nice crispness on the outside.

9/10

Sorry but Schwartz is over hyped as fuck. Their sandwich is mediocre at best.
Your post just lost all its credibility.

Hondaracer 03-03-2017 05:45 PM

I've eaten at shwartz, the other famous one, and then "Nickels" I beleive it was called another smoked meat eatery

Of the three I liked nickels the best

murd0c 03-06-2017 07:33 AM

I really enjoyed Schwartz, first true Montreal Smoked meat sandwich I have had but I'm down to check out the other ones for sure.

Beignets in New Orleans (ranked favourite to least)
1. Morning call
2. Cafe beignet
3. Cafe du monde

IfUCare 03-12-2017 03:16 PM

Was at Playa Del Carmen recently and checked out a few of their restaurants
1. La Casa Del Agua
Short Ribs Mancha Style
https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...03&oe=595F147D
Very interesting Mole, definitely worth a try

2.Sur Steakhouse
Iberico Pastor
Just fun to slice it yourself and the little box heater keeps it warm
https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...18&oe=5928C0F7
https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...fd&oe=5927C2E6

3. La Parilla
Pork Ribs Mayan Style
Nothing special, just wrapped in banana leaf
https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...5f&oe=59318FD0

4. Frida Kahlo
Hibiscus Duck Burrito and Fried Octopus
The Duck burrito was too sweet for my liking and the fried octopus came with interesting sauce, no idea what it is.

Had the tuna poke from Islands Cafe in White Rock ~6-7/10 imo. Pree good but the places downtown are way better. Wish there were more places out here.

Banh Mi Tres Bon

8.5/10

Broth was good and aromatic, fresh noodles and ingredients were used. For the price and amount of food, there's a lack of protein but the bone marrow is definitely something you don't see anywhere else. For such a small space, i'm amazed there's 6+ staff working there, very cramped.

Interior was nice and modern, nice spot to bring a date (ladies will think the presentation and surroundings look cute) but I can see it being a gong show during lunch hour on weekends. I would say this is the best place for pho in Richmond. Parking is a bitch to find closeby.

Will come back to try their banh mi's.

Mega Donair on the Coquitlam/Port Moody border. $18 for a 2 pound donair with fresh made bread, as long as a grown man's head. Loaded to hell and back with everything.

8/10

I went there last Saturday and they were closed for some reason. So disappointing since I am never in the area. Girlfriend almost cried when we saw the lights off....

Definitely not the best place for pho in Richmond

Pros:
Marrow is a nice touch
The bread is excellent
Excellent service
"Modern"

Cons:
Only one choice of pho, it's ok at best. I would recommend lotus over this place easy
Small portions for $11
Beef stew is terribad. I recommend pho japalo
Crepes are also only ok. I recommend the place across from western lake but for the crepes only
Fish sauce is super watered down
Iced coffee has no sweetness at all. Could definitely use more condensed

All IMO of course

There's a location opening up soon near Coquitlam Center, beside the Ninja Bubble Tea.

Armind 04-10-2017 08:47 AM

Lotus> Banh Mi Tres Bon... :seriously: that place is full of MSG.

Lotus has the MOST MSG I have ever had in a bowl of pho. Along with Thai Son. I got thirsty as fuck.

Gnomes 04-10-2017 07:12 PM

Pho 24 Express on Kingsway - near Saffron Indian restaurant. Pho was decent size for extra large. Price is fair. Meat is a bit in skimpy side. Soup was lacking in MSG and salt. Overpowered with sugar.
