Finest at Sea Arbutus for Fish and Chips 8.5/10. Kinda pricey but delicious. |
Was out in Abbotsford this morning. Got hungry and ate at this place called Brodeur Bistro. The prices were reasonable, $17 for a pound of Montreal Smoked meat which was juicy and flavourful. The beef dip was also really good. The Shrimp Gumbo had a nice peppery kick and was very good. Not that there are many Gumbo in Van but the Chewies Gumbo was gross. The best Gumbo I had was in SoCal. |
^perfect, i'm in abbotsford, going to check it out. |

anyways.. yes.. delicious.. good choice ! |
Mak N Ming - 2/5 Was actually heading to Cafe Zen for brunch but spotted this little shop beside it and decided to give it a try. I regret it. Server was really nice. Ordered 2 dishes. ONO BRUNCH BOWL & AVOCADO TOAST It's not that it tasted bad, but holee was it expensive. $17 for, literally an avocado and toast, with 4 small tomatoes on the side. My wife literally laughed when she saw the dish only had 1 simple egg on it, for $17 they could have at least splurged for an extra egg? The other half of the toast was just, half an avocado. She rarely ever complains about lack of food. I usually eat half her entrees at most places. My brunch bowl had a few slivers of smoked salmon, then filled 1/4 of the way with quinoa and a few greens, it was also like 16 or 17 bucks. Left hungry. Saw some good reviews for it, must have been for dinner? |
21 Steps (Whistler) 7/10 First time trying this place as Sidecut was closed. There were hits and misses. First the hits: Mussells, were fresh, big and juicy. The thai red curry was perfect for dipping the 2 loaves of bread that came with the dish. Baby Back Ribs, huge rack that was fall off bone tender on a plate of fries and salad. Worth it. Shellfish Linguini - great seasoning and pasta cooked perfectly. Solid amount of seafood for $20. Misses: Fried Goat Cheese - This was raved about on Yelp so I ordered it. Taste was ok, but it was $14, considering I only paid $1 more for a heaping bowl of Mussels instead. Kind of underwhelming for 3 small ping pong sized balls of cheese. Boneless Pork Chop - Very very dry, was tough to chew and swallow. Pork Shoulder Papperdelle - Dry and bland |

bump Best place for beef noodle soup? |
Just got back from Taiwan yesterday, all beef noodles soup in Van are not even close. However my personal pick in town would be Newton's Beef Noodle in Richmond. Chef Hung in Aberdeen is not bad either, way overpriced though. Don't go to the Kerrisdale branch. |
Legendary Noodle 10/10 Tibetan Lamb Shank fried Thick Noodle was so flavourful. |

Their Chili prawns were always good though. That fried goat cheese has been a staple for a longggg time.. i remeber going there like 15 years ago with a bunch of friends and drinking our faces off and eating that cheese.. fast forward 2 hours and i'm puking in a trash can half and half goat cheese and jack daniels :okay: |
I'll try the Chilli Prawns next time. The Goat Cheese wasn't bad however I find it hard to justify paying $14 for 3 small balls of fried goat cheese. |
went to cafe de l'orangerie. good food and portions. also, the beer is one of the cheapest to find for a restaurant like this. less than $4 for a bottle of beer. |
I love 21 Steps, but haven't been in 3 years. I remember having the baby back ribs and they were great, along with a cheese and honey appetizer that was really impressive. Going to try and check it out when I am in Whistler in January. |
Has anyone tried Hi Five fried and baked chicken on main and marine? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
^yeah.... still prefer churches Wild Thyme 9/10 Decided to try this place i found on yelp. First time eating lebanese food Ordered half kafta and half chicken bowl. meat patties + chicken served with rice, onions, and tomato topped with tahini sauce and baked in their oven served with dipping sauce, pita and salad Tastes soooo good better so much than a donair platter. Really fatty too lol their pita is made fresh in the oven and they give you a bunch of sauces on the side to dip with it. Idk what it even is but one of the dips is hummus Going to try the flatbreads on my next visit |

Café Linnea (Edmonton), Scandinavian and French cuisine 9/10 Got the oeufs-en-cocotte and added sausage (Two baked eggs baked in a cast-iron pot, with mushrooms, caramelized onion, potatoes, kale, and pickled chanterelles, in a sherry cream sauce. Served with house sourdough). First time having this dish and I thought it was a very good dish. Aesthetically pleasing decor. Restaurant is #6 on Canada's Best New Restaurants 2017 (if that means anything to you). |

I do not recommend them at all now. they've fucked up my order twice, fucked up my coworkers order twice, and the chicken is really small. 3/10 |

Hida Takayama Ramen 1610 Robson St: famous for their white sesame ramen... they will be closing permanently Dec 17 (or 18), so sad to see them go. When I went today, I said goodbye to the owner and thanked him for the awesome ramen for the last 7 yrs; he bowed and said thank you for my support. FeelsBadMan :QQ: you will be missed. https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/me...e-the-mall.jpg |

yes there is a second location but i always like to get away from busy part of the ramen street of downtown and just get free parking as well as just being a "hole in the wall" type place. |
