Yep, definitely! I have a few friends cooking at Hawksworth and looking at their photos on facebook.....makes me jittery to cook again. Where do you cook if you dont mind me asking? :O

To keep on topic, had dimsum at Fortune House two days ago - 8/10. Lots of people complain over the price but I firmly believe the chef does GIVE what you PAY for. That being said, my bill was covered by the chef and a nice tour of the line hahah

Will not return.

(Edit: I was given a gift certificate so I had to use it. I would not have gone on my own will.)

I avoid restaurants that garnish their plates with un-edible things such as huge sprigs of rosemary or tarragon LOL

Kirin Richmond, for Dim Sum. May 4, 2013.

GREAT Dim Sum as always... and I love restaurants that are consistent.

10/10.

Tried out Zen Sushi in West Vancouver yesterday and the sushi was good.
Very pricy though:
MENUS
8/10

I remember Zen Sushi from 15 (or so) years ago when they first came out (I think).

They were good then.

Glad to hear they are still good now.

Ichiban near the 15th Street 7 Eleven was also good then.

Not sure what happened to Ichiban now.

^If you guys liked Zen, give Sushi Kamizato a try in POCO. Sushi K was the head sushi chef at Zen and he opened up his own resto for almost a year now. You won't be disappointed!

Hyoga Japanese Cuisine

8/10

Had the gyoza, ebi okonomiyaki, dynamite roll, negitoro roll, and pressed salmon sushi. Everything was fresh and tasty. Service is a bit on the slower side and prices were on the higher side but considering how it's the only decent place within walking distance I'm fine with it. They don't have their liquor license which I was a bit disappointed by and though they did say they were considering it. Business was quite slow though so that might be why they haven't applied for it yet. Hopefully they'll be around for awhile longer.

La Quercia tonight for dinner
Smoked veal tongue
Halibut in saor
Agnolotti de guido
Rabbit duo with lentils and radicchio
Food 9.5/10
Service 10/10
Price 9/10
This place is always bordering on or all the way to perfect. The food is simple, but astonishing. Complexity through perfection instead of huge ingredient lists. Service is from the most knowledgable and professional people, and considering the overall experience/exclusivity/quality of the restaurant, its amazingly priced. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself here.

So.

Tongue?

BeeBeehAhn and GraemeS won't shut up.
Those two are very excited for our play date.

Pho Truong Thanh.

7.5/10 good food and probably the cheapest pho in town ($6.95 for large house special). Service is quick, but the place is not the cleanest. It's open 24 hours so you can satisfy that 3AM pho craving..

Sushi California,

Tried Sashimi
And the other BC Combo
Tempurara,
Tofu,

6/10 EDIT: 1/10 - for the cute servers (I was too generous at the rating of 6)

Reason, Tuna was a bit off, poorly formed nigiri rice that broke on me (prob because rice wasn't the freshest and seasoned right).

This was my second time, and I realized my first visit was heavily influenced by cute waitresses.

Second time around, I regretted the visit, should have stuck with Yuji.

HOW THE FUCK DO YOU RETARDS EAT AT THIS PLACE? I CAN'T BELIEVE SOME OF YOU ACTUALLY RECOMMENDED IT. THIS PLACE IS CERTIFIABLY WORSE THAN SUSHI GARDEN, and yet it is jam packed with ignorant assholes.

LOL, yeah, I think I rated it a 6 due to a couple of cute servers.
I still don't know why I go to these shitty places -___-
Trickery I tell ya.

bcrdukes 05-10-2013 01:13 PM

Cute servers = Not good :troll:

As they say, some people eat with their eyes. :D

Hondaracer 05-10-2013 08:49 PM

Only go to sushi California because its walking distance from the GF's place

Is hawksworth as formal as say Hy's? From the pictures on the site looks to be more casual?

Hawksworth is similar to Bluewater. Definitely not Lumiere style formal.

Smart casual is totally fine for Hawksworth.

Integgyy 05-10-2013 09:58 PM
