Anyone going to the open practice tomorrow? |
Good game, minus blowing a couple goal leads. My poor buddy got beat bad, between the 6-3 routing of the Oilers, and the slaughter of the Eskimo's today. hahahahaha. Its a great day :P |
im the 7th player!!!!!!!!! ok fine that was pretty chessy |
who was the canuck who injured his back a year or two ago when he was at home cause he bent down to pick up a cookie he dropped??/ |
Oilers started 4-0 but lost 3, that much hurt but looks like the Wild keep on rolling like last season. |

Said it was the 217th consecutive sellout. I was there, and noticed the lower bowl seemed empty. |
Anyone else think Marc Crawford should stick to coaching? As for the empty seats, I would guess they are season ticket holders (private and corporate) who couldn't make the game or didn't sell/give away the tickets to clients/staff/craigslist etc. For example my fiance's company are season ticket holders for 2 seats. If they are too busy and haven't given the tickets to clients they will sell or give them to staff. If you're busy or distracted it's easy to forget that the tickets aren't not being used on any given night. |
I always thought Marc Crawford wasn't right for the job, they should have had Simpson in last night with Hughson... but after the first game Crow did on CBC everyone was praising him here. The empty seats could also be due to the Lions game across the street, many canuck season ticket holders are also season ticket holders of lions. |
that 7th player thing was fuckin stupied |

I guess it's some cheesy promo campaign. Trying to thank the fans or something...I didn't really pay attention to it at all... :S |
Canucks are trying to copy all these little things other teams do to enhance the exoeriance, first it was the wilds goal celebration song, now they try to say the fan is the 7th player like the seahawks have their "8th man" :/ |

Great game last night, we had 4 power play goals, good shit. I heard the canucks were practicing nothing but their power play since the last loss they had. Looks like it made a definite impact. |
It's nothing to do with a "Chinese perspective". In football, the crowd is known as the "13th man" (or 12th man, in that lame league to the south), specifically when the home team is on defense and the crowd noise can have a serious effect on hampering the visitors' offense, effectively making the fans more a part of the action. The idea, as I understand it, with the Canucks last night was to try to involve the fans in the same sort of way. While it may seem a little hokey, I definitely applaud the idea - how often do we here complain about how quiet the building can get in between Canucks goals, and even moreso when the Nucks are trailing? How often do we note how the people in the stands seem almost disinterested in what's happening on the ice? We all know that a noisy crowd can help boost the home team - encourage them, feed them energy. This is an attempt to get the crowd more involved, and it goes right along with the attempts to build a grittier, scrappier, more offense-minded team. Whether you like the implementation or not, at least recognize the effort and the fact that ownership and management is at least TRYING to boost the product. |
fans are a big boost to players, they feed off it. |
