the team is good the way it is for now, lets wait to see what happens when/if we make it into the playoffs

MG1 02-19-2009 07:34 AM

Agree. The team looks pretty good. Not only are they playing well, they are having a lot of fun together. Lots of characters on the team. I think this road trip was good for the team. I hope we stay injury free and the other players who are struggling come through. Firing on all cylinders - cliche, for sure, but describes what the Canucks need to do if they are going far into the playoffs.

I hope Sundin and Wellwood tear it up in TO.

The poster of the news should have clarified that since this is a Canucks thread. My first thought was the goaltender and not Mathieu Schneider.

Well, we can only catch up if Calgary loses some, and we win all ours. If both Calgary and Vancouver both win, then the gap remains the same. If we played Calgary a bunch more times, then that's the only definite way of making any ground on them. However, I think tomorrow is our last meet with Calgary this season.

No, they play them again 3rd last game of the season. I know because I have tix for that game :D haha

bossxx 02-19-2009 07:45 AM

Ottawa and TO next 2 games. These 2 have to be wins for Vancouver. We have this history of fucking up when playing shitty teams.

Hondaracer 02-19-2009 08:01 AM

^ but a history of winning VS eastern opponents :p

As for that globe and mail article, that matt zickeris or w/e is a tool and really doesn't have great hockey knowledge, I see nucks making a move even if it's just somthing minor

Canada has too great of a talent pool. Even if those two dominate in NHL, I don't think they would be able to dominate a Canadian superstar lineup.

I love how the article says "Canucks forward Pavol Demitra and Hossa are both Slovak, and their wives are apparently very close. "

As if that makes a big difference. Just trying to stir up something from nothing. haha. Typical media.

THANK YOU

finally someone who realizes that there are more aspects to a contributing hockey player than how many goals they score. Theres a reason nobody picked Wellwood off waivers, and its because most teams don't have room for a player like him.

So what you're saying is if we put Pyatt on waivers, someone will pick him up?How much does Pyatt make just to hit and go on PK (which is currently bad). Sure he scored a couple goals with the sedins but then again, those goals were pretty lucky from what I remember..I guess he is just like Matt Cooke..hits/pk/scores goals here and there... but Cooke > Pyatt any time.

Ruus 02-19-2009 09:13 AM

IMO Pyatt is a slow useless player for his size, he can't hit and usually gets knocked over even attempting. He doesnt kill many penalty , doesn't go on the powerplay, has no hands and only looks good sometimes b/c of the players he plays with.

Wellwood is almost just as useless but at least he scores some goals now and again !

the canucks are doing good
but it doesn't hurt at all to pick up a player if the price is right and so on during the deadline

i'm pretty sure you're gonna see at least 1 move done by gillis on march 4th

I wouldn't want Cooke on this team if he played for room and board. Cheap shot artist and a pansy who takes liberties then falls into the fetal position and sucks his thumb when asked asked to answer for them. Arguably worst Canuck ever not because of skill but because of character.

Hondaracer 02-19-2009 10:01 AM

Cooke over pyatt?? LOL

Your opinion is now fully irrelevent, not just partially from your opinions on the previous page..

Alot of you in this thread don't understand the concept of "role players" sure pyatt is kind of useless offensively but he has other abilites that can be utilized in certain situations as do many other players on this Canucks team wellwood is exactly the same

But omg! Don't call him out when he's underperforming his one and only role it might hurt his feelings!

LUUUUUUUU 02-19-2009 10:21 AM

Jarkko Ruutu over both Cooke and Pyatt anyday baby yah!

Tim Budong 02-19-2009 10:27 AM

artem chubarov?
ahahahhhahahaha

yea..jarkko ruutu seems more of the agitator type these days
matt cooke is playing on in pitts on the PK with malkin at times
didnt he have like a 3-4game pt streak with malkin? hahahaha

Hondaracer 02-19-2009 10:43 AM

Who wouldn't get points playing with malkin?

Dude, I'm just pointing out that the guy said Pyatt hits/kills penalties and I just stated that Cooke did the same when he was here so I will pick him over that as he is faster, etc.....I'm sorry that we are not as knowledgeable as you..... ;)

PYATT wouldn't. :D
He would definately hit the post and/or crossbar like 59403 times though.

Cooke's clutch too. lol

But he is definately not a good character player. Always hated how he would never drop the gloves.

411ken 02-19-2009 11:18 AM

Hahaha ya, but ppl forget to like how he got us on the PP because of it.

anyways, let's not talk about cooke...I have a feeling tonights game will go into OT

hi5-ive 02-19-2009 11:21 AM

alfy is out with fractured jaw, will miss atleast a week, not playing tonight against canucks.

i dont think so, we will dominate them 5-1 canucks... edmonton will enter OT with dallas tonight :D

8 pts behind calgary, if we win the next 2 games, OTTAWA, TORONTO ( which i think they will ).
Regardless if calgary will win the following few games or not, our division leader spot is looking very bright

I love how everyone in Canada has seemed to forget about the Olympics 2006 and only seem to remember 2002.
