LOL, Luongo was celebrating the victory from his back!

411ken 02-18-2009 02:23 PM

The point of this wellwood hate.. you never ever call anyone about anything if they win the game... What will you guys say if he hit it harder and kipper made the save and then he still calls him out? If you guys can't see AV's hate/dislike towards Wellwood then I don't know.... I still do not remember him calling out Pyatt and Bernier when they were on the PP with the twins..anyways,

Hondaracer 02-18-2009 02:48 PM

^ Why not call people out in a winning cause? you need to keep on players to keep them on their toes and change mistakes that were made

just because we won and bieksa scored doesnt mean he didnt play a piss poor game up until that point.

raymond wont ever develop into a first line player due to size, and i highly doubt grabner will ever become a top 6 forward either, so i'd say im for it

I have to agree, 411ken, it looks like AV and possibly the other coaches don't like Wellwood - for whatever reason. Does it go all the way up to the GM? That would be interesting. The problem started when they got some results from sending Wellwood down to the minors. From that day on, they got this idea that he can be fucked around with. The assistant coach even mentioned it in an interview. Today's players are a little tough to judge. Some can be pushed, while others can't. At what point do you stop it? Wellwood seems to be the type who can take a lot of abuse, although everybody has a breaking point. What I worry about is how the other players react to this, I would almost go as far as to say, bullying. BTW, bullying happens everywhere. In the workplace, schools, any organization. Anyway, some of the players may not like it and it may lead to the team having no respect for the coaching staff. This is a worse case scenario and I don't think it would ever come to that. SOB stood up for himself and he's still here. Perhaps the coaches want Wellwood to become mentally tougher - who knows? I think AV is a pretty good coach and I support him on a lot of things, including line juggling and whatnot, but I think he has problems with certain players. We all have certain people we don't get along with. In an organization, the team is more important than personal conflicts.

I have no idea what the two mile an hour comment was all about. That shot Wellwood took was not a trickle towards the net. The iso people had to slow the play down quite a bit to get the shot to show up. Up to this point, AV has not freaked on any player in public. The Wellwood comment was just stupid, and like pointed out previously, after a win in a huge game.

Hopefully, the team is on such a high that shit like this won't matter, because they're too busy enjoying the good times.

I knew of Linden's beefs with AV while as a Canuck but never knew it went all the way back to Montreal. Wish I knew what that was about.

Don't think so. Kovalev is still a marquee player and judging by the All-star game, still has a sound fan-following. According to GM interviews, he still has a good relationship with the GM so it looks like the GM just afforded him a break from hockey.

Just what I gathered from the interv.

Stick Pronger/Buowmeester/Weber/Regehr on them and I'm not too worried.

Not to mention the fact that its quite possible they'll have another little spat between now and then, and may not even play together depending on chemistry.

Do I ever want his ass gone!! I mean... we won the game.. there's no need to call anyone out.... why not call Luongo out for letting in 3 goals

Pyatt hits, kills penalties, and plays defense, none of which Wellwood does. He is by far the softest player on the team.

Wellwood needs to score to earn his roster spot. Although I agree AV may have been a bit harsh, he is getting lots of chances but needs to start burying them (but the save last night was just bad luck).

You guys are reading way too far into him calling out wellwood, IMO it was justified, sure he was absolutely robbed on that shot but for the past few games now he's been put in the position to score and hasn't been able to pull the trigger, he was brought in to score those goals and get those points and when it comes down to a tight 1-2 goal games he NEEDS to put those in the net

Let's talk about the win rather then dwelling too much on this

Perhaps that's why pyatt, bernier, etc aren't being called out?

Or did u guys even take into consideration that players like Pyatt and bernier play other roles while wellwood is pretty much a 1 dimensional player?

THANK YOU

finally someone who realizes that there are more aspects to a contributing hockey player than how many goals they score. Theres a reason nobody picked Wellwood off waivers, and its because most teams don't have room for a player like him.

and that is very true

but if you really think about it, wellwood breaks his goal slump..and ends up on another...what difference does it make. His "goal" might come in a losing cause and its back to square one, no one gives a shit...he scores in a game...and hte nucks win, but his goal is maybe the 4th goal in a 7-0 disaster for hte opposition, we will go on and say..BURROWS IS A MONSTER tonite...

and the only reason he is here is becuz he can play on the PP with hopes him and Sundin will connect. that is not the case..

AV should stop hounding him..and let the team play fucking hockey
