Waiting in line for 30-40 minutes or being forced to pay a bouncer to get in - and then another $20 for cover is unheard of in the clubs in Toronto and Montreal. I understand when they are actually at full capacity, but most of the time its empty inside. And lastly, you're treated like crap - unless you plan on getting bottle service.

Imagine how club owners would react if they were completely boycotted for 2 weekends. They'd be forced to cut the crap. When 2010 comes around, its going to be worse than ever - there will definitely be a bunch of confused tourists wondering how to get in.

I like going to Honey, it's in Tinseltown...

Hot chicks, decent music, good drinks, low douchebag count

$10 cover I think though?

I think as you grow older, the less appealing clubbing appears to you. Plus having to deal with the younger gangster wannabes there just makes it worse.

:werd:
much rather hit up a pub or drink at a buddy's place

It's hard to put a finger on why such a shitty clubbing culture has developed in Vancouver. I've clubbed in tons of other countries/cities and by far it is a 100x better. It just seems like the first reaction of people here when you bump into them is they want to fight, but other places, people actually apologize. It's such a subtle difference but it makes all the difference.

Man you guys should come up here, we only have 3 clubs but if you get there early half the time they let you in for free. Cover is usually $5, $10 for a special event (DJ, product launch, etc). They all play different music, one the people are really pushy but the rest people are mostly chill. Oh, and the two strip clubs are only a block from 2 of the clubs :D

I dunno about Kel-pwn-a, but I've been in a couple of Kamloops peeler bars... it's nothing to brag about.

rslater 04-12-2009 12:00 PM

I royally despise most clubs. I enjoy being inside, but everything that goes on outside of them is ridiculious. I find it personally degrading to wait in line while other people are simply allowed to bypass everyone being it because they are girls or because their freinds with someone who works their. I just hate waiting in fucking line ups when its not even completely full inside.

underscore 04-12-2009 12:01 PM

they most likely aren't (only ones I've been to), but they still have boobies haha

Owners will listen? Aint it obvious they purposely contribute to the horrible clubbin scene?

All the complaints in here can be witness before your eyes in every club in Van...these owners dont need us telling them how to properly run a club. Sad but true...3rd countries have much better clubbin scene than Vancouver.

Suing clubs? Doesn't that take money to hire a lawyer to do that? Im interested in these law suit stories you have.

A contributing factor for Vancouver club scene...not being racist...asians tend to stand at the back of the club mean muggin people....their pick up line requires money to buy the girl and all her friends drinks...ruins it for other guys because girls is Van expects a drink before you can even talk to them.

Agree...cant lay blame on one thing....lots of factors...owners / city regulations / music / the people.

The nightlife of Vancouver reflects the people of Van...this is a cold city.

stone temple

even highschool kids know that place is empty lol

and i went to kelowna 2 weeks ago to party...its not that the clubs are great there...its that theres so little clubs to choose from which makes it fun by default...not sure what club i was at..but its basically the same layout as caprice almost...with lower prices....was decent there though...

Arislo 04-12-2009 04:54 PM

Plan ahead. Go there before it gets busy (just before 10) then getter stamped and go to a pub/bar to drink where its cheaper.

For Dj shows. Pre drink at ur house/friends house or u can do the same as the above ^^.

scottsman 04-12-2009 05:34 PM

Clubbing in Asia FTW!!

I already mentioned that lol. For special events (where you buy ticekts beforehand), the line is rather fast....well faster than a normal club night.

Here's an example of a real club, in a so called "developing" country, and I don't think we have anything here that matches it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=filOCRsFmXI

looks something like ibiza

that music + girls = fucking win

wahyinghung 04-12-2009 07:55 PM

Haven't been to clubs in ages until recently due to my gf's friend b-day party and even though we were on the VIP list we had to wait for an freaking hour before we got in and btw this was Fabric. What's the with all the hype surrounding this place anyways? Isn't this crap hole used to be Sonar ? Also I agree Vancouver's clubs suck ass compared to everywhere else.

kc1337 04-12-2009 08:49 PM

Do what the french do, firebomb the clubs. flip cars. create a riot.

i bet you could get a riot going if you went to costco and grabbed a whole bunch of bread and bribed the hobos to have a riot in the city.

LULZ guaranteed

Yeah.

Amneisia nightclub... lol 60 euro entrance fees for closing partie seems far from a developing country.

bottle of waters the size of coke cans costs 10CAD.. god I don't know how much liquor was since I never bought any in the clubs when I went.

It's really unfare to compare vancouvers nightlife to Ibiza considering ibiza is "the place" for afterhours parties.

Toronto, Montreal actually have fairly good afterhours parties. Montreal for the massives. They just had balenblanc the other day. www.balenblanc.com

During new years, they throw a massive in the bell centre (where the montreal canadians play)

10-15k people ain't bad. I went the last two years.

RFlush 04-12-2009 10:40 PM

The best clubbing experience I had in my life was in Korea. They have so many clubs within walking distance, different music, just over all fun. Everyone is friendly and no one is there to cause trouble. I enjoyed it more than clubbing in Beijing, Guangzhou, and HK.

Vancouver clubbing sucks.

raygunpk 04-12-2009 10:41 PM
