Granted there are gates in Stockholm where you have to swipe your pass. But it can be easily hoped over too. Anyways, this will prevent people to drink and drive. Skyride ride to Surrey + a cab back home would be less than $20. A cab ride home from DT to Surrey is $60+.

well drunk people would have a harder time jumping over anyways. after the first few do faceplants the rest wouldn't want to try.

how do u guys shorted? dont u watch them pour it in? for highballs I always see bartenders overpour

Volvo-brickster 04-18-2009 08:43 PM

whats even better are bartenders who think you are drunk and try to short change you

Give them a $20, for a single drink and they give you change back claiming they thought you gave them a $10

m4k4v4li 04-18-2009 09:42 PM

not saying it doesn't happen but what incentives do bartenders have to short change you...

aren't there cameras, is it worth it to pocket a few extra bucks to lose your job? same thing with shorting you on liqour... its not like the profits go to them anyway

edit. like right now im gettin ready to hit up caprice or sumthin. takin 500 and seing where that gets me

I went to Republic for a bit tonight..
I was with at least 5 people that worked at bars or lounges on the Granville strip and the bitch that works the front door didnt want to give us one extra ticket to get in.
Like seriously.... after going through a couple other people that worked there they got the extra ticket. We can goto ANY other bar in the Lower Mainland and they would not only get us in but also give us a bartab and Republic didnt even want to let one extra person in that wasnt on the guestlist.
We stayed there for about an hour before we left.
Good luck to any of the staff (other then the guy that ended up hooking us up) getting into any bars on the Granville strip now.. Their was someone from at least one of the major companies that run the bars downtown in our group.

I remember when I was in Toronto a couple months back I paid the bouncer $20 to skip the line and he was all in shock that i offered him $20. The entire night he was coming up and asking me if I needed anything else and told the bartender to sit us in the VIP section. You pay a bouncer $20 in Vancouver and he'll tell you to go wait in the VIP lineup which never moves, when it does finally move you're slapped with a crazy cover charge and if you don't tip the chick taking your money you get a nasty look. I really hate clubbing in Vancouver, that's why I to stick with lounges.

lol. dont expect too much from any venue being run by donnelley nightclubs. just a bunch of pricks working for bigger pricks.

you definatley pay out the ass at any of their clubs. fucking pop opera's cover is 22 bucks or sumthin mental and the fucking coat check is like 6. lol. then u hit the bar and the drinks are way more expensive than anywhere else.

hotjoint 04-20-2009 07:44 AM

$22 for cover holy crap.

Soundy 04-20-2009 09:13 AM

And what do you get for your $28 just to get in the door? The same shit-box music as all the other clubs, the same lame lights and smoke, and the same suckers paying a shitload of money to be somewhere because it's a "cool" place to be. Probably all waiting in line for two hours when the place was empty, too, to help aid that appearance. Wow, congrats, you're exclusive and sPeShUl now!

Meanwhile, last Friday, I went to Cheers, and for a $10 cover got five really good bands (okay, three really good and two mediocre), no lineups, and cheap non-watered-down booze (bottle of Smirnoff Ice, $4.75). And nobody cared.

Ulic Qel-Droma 04-20-2009 09:38 AM

it's true that the grass is greener on the other side, but...

TAIPEI>ALL

asahai69 04-20-2009 10:06 AM

The thing is it was mostly the chick with horse legs working guestlist that was being a bitch. The promoter guy was really cool. He understood that 8 guys going out for a bday when 6 of those worked in the industry meant they would be spending money.
Should have just gone to the Roxy.. We only ended up at Republic for an hour. Nobody really wanted to be there other then the birthday person.. lol

m4k4v4li 04-20-2009 11:31 AM

if they work in the industry cant they just bring their pay stubs and get in free?

If you want decent food go next door to All Stars before next time.. I was there yesterday with some friends watching the game.. The food is decent.

That is the way it has been with every other bar we have ever gone to.
