It just seems like the first reaction of people here when you bump into them is they want to fight, but other places, people actually apologize. It's such a subtle difference but it makes all the difference.

lots G-Unit crew out here.

Vancouver is like any other city clubbing wise, the difference is that when you go to other cities you are a visitor and tend to see everything in a positive time for the duration of your stay there, AND you are usually spending more money than during an average clubbing night in your hometown.

and i went to kelowna 2 weeks ago to party...its not that the clubs are great there...its that theres so little clubs to choose from which makes it fun by default...not sure what club i was at..but its basically the same layout as caprice almost...with lower prices....was decent there though...

LeVeL - kinda long and thin, has 3 floors but they aren't always all open, bars all along the right side as you walk in, metal detector at the door
Flashbacks - 1 floor, walk up stairs to get to it, a bit of a hall with lots of rock/retro posters and stuff between where the bouncers let you in to the main part of the club
Gotcha! - across the road from LeVeL, 2 floors, top floor isn't always open. wider than LeVeL, the dance floor is right in front of you as you walk in, also has a metal detector at the door.

I just got home from LeVeL/McDonalds run as some DJ from LA was here doing a show, pretty good mixes. Made eye contact with this smokin girl with great moves a few times, she shot me a smile but I waited too long to make a move and some other guy started dancing with her. ah well.

I disagree.

Visitor or not, you still have to wait outside for up to an hour or longer while its raining and there are barely any people inside the club. The drinks being expensive is not the fault of the "vancouver club scene", it' just the way it is as drinks are usually expensive at restaurants etc. Regardless, the club scene here is not good at all and even visitors have told me that.

In Korea, the last friday of every month they have a club day. There are over 50 clubs in a small district and you pay $15 and get a band and one free drink at any of the 50 clubs. You can club hop to anyone of the clubs and they wont close until it's dead inside. No line ups either!

I used to be a club promoter. I havent been clubbing for just over 2 years now. Don't wanna bother with all the bs and waste my time. Clubs down here suck period. Music they play is trash, cover is a jack, and all the douches you encouter (security gaurds, other people waiting to get into the club, promoters themselves) just not make it even worth it anymore. All that combined with the the bitchy/stuck up gold digger girls is a lose lose situation. I'll pick a house party over a club anyday

Here's an example of a real club, in a so called "developing" country, and I don't think we have anything here that matches it

Wow, that is actually pretty good, Ibiza's always been one of my places to check out. No musically tasteless retards pumping their heads and saluting hand signals to shitty akon single upon akon single in sight. Any club in Vancouver play remotely decent music like this?

The music sucks shit at the clubs here. It is always hip hop and R&B remix that you hear on the radio. I hear there are some clubs that have decent music but I don't know where though.

i think most of you guys are mad because your a bunch of nerdy sleazebags that have a hard time picking up girls. Hence you are ranting out on this forum. Most of you are just wanting easy girls to take home but are mad because noone will go with you.

I've been clubbing elsewhere, sure it's better but I don't mind going with my friends here.

i don't know about that, since it seems like myself and almost everyone else was complaining about everything leading up to getting in. the girls/atmosphere/music changes from club to club - but everything else seems to be the same. In other words, you're an idiot

Sure the bouncers are gay for not letting anyone in unless they grease. They all think their hot shit and act like they run the world. I don't like them just as much as you do.
but is 20 bucks that much to cry over a forum about?
If your crying about 20 bucks, then how much do you spend while your in there? 10 bucks? In other words, your either broke or a cheap ass.

How about this, if 20 bucks is that much of a dent in your pocket, i'll give you 20 bucks next time so you can skip the line.

underscore 04-13-2009 05:31 PM

you shouldn't have to spend $30 just to get in, then $50+ to get/stay drunk for the night.....

+1 That's less money going into booze consumption. There are a lot of clubs in other parts of the world that charge more, but it's the atmosphere and the people that change the experience. Seems as though the mentality of most people in Vancouver clubs are either A) dress as scantily as possible, act like sluts but reject every guy that tries to talk to you B) Get some ass C) Get there and get as drunk as possible.

You go to other clubs, people are there to have fun, even for the people that are trying to get ass, both men and women enjoy the game, here in Vancouver...you'll just get the cold shoulder if you even tap on their shoulder and tell them they dropped something.
