Should have just gone to the Roxy.. We only ended up at Republic for an hour. Nobody really wanted to be there other then the birthday person.. lol

If you really wanted to spend money you would have called the GM ahead of time, booked a table and not had to wait in line. Of course, when he told you had to do a minimum of 1 bottle per 3 people you might have balked.

Donelly has the best nightclubs in Vancouver because they know how to treat people right. Every time I've booked bottle service at Republic or Modern they have gone above and beyond what my friends and I expected. And even when I don't book bottle service all it takes now is a quick blackberry messenger text to skip the line and cover. Like any business, clubs know how to treat their best customers right. Think of it as Holt Renfrew’s. You are paying for service and atmosphere.

Let's just be honest and point out that most people in this thread seem to be cheapasses. Complaining about $20 cover (how much do you think a nice club costs to build and staff?) and saying The Roxy (LOL) is a good option. I've been to the Roxy once and I was not impressed. If you want to pay $5 cover and be inside a shit hole like the Roxy go ahead, but don't fault people who do pay $20 to party in a nicer club. This is probably why Vancouver doesn't have any amazing clubs. Potential owners know most people are too cheap to make them economically viable.

^ are you kidding me. treating coustomers like crap and having them wait outside for what? 40 bucks per head then walking into a damn club thats half empty and the ppl in the club are either stuck up bitches or bouncers that give you the eye like you raped their sister.

lol. a couple years at aubar i bought a round. cost like 140 something. i gave the bartender 10 bucks and he looks at me like wtf. you cheapass. first thing. that wasnt the only round i bought the night. second. i wated like 5 mins for the damn bartender to come over to me then another 5 mins cuz he was busy serving skanks and his buddies. anyways. he looks at me like wtf. then i asked him what his problem is. hes like you only gave me 10 on a round that was 140 something. i asked him if he was kidding me and he was giving me that look again. the "why did you rape my sister" look. i told the guy give me a fucking break. crumbled 20 bucks. threw it in his face. 5 minutes later i got kicked out. lol

long story short. its the owners/bouncers/bartenders/ and the ppl they let in that fucks the whole experience up. just because your cheap dosent mean you should be excluded from the clubbing scene.

LOL bottle service @ a Vancouver club.....what a fucking joke. On a side note, the only club I still enjoy going to is Ginger. Cover is cheaper than most downtown clubs and coat check is still by donation (tip) only. Lots of space for you to chill and the music is bumping (if you're into house).

LOL, exactly what I was saying above, you have to tip them for everything or else you get this stare down. So fucking sad.

there are many reasons why vancouver can't have amazing super clubs and to be honest, everyone is to blame. the smaller market and the law restrictions we have here just doesn't help either.

prices (cover, bar, coatcheck) are on the rise while the attendance drops but they will keep raising those prices to make up for the lost revenue. hello! you're just asking for even lower attendance numbers. now that enough clubbers are no longer clubbing due to escalating prices and shittier services, lineups are kept outside an empty club to give the illusion of them being busy. all the while, the (still) paying customers are pissed off for waiting in line for nothing. way to go vancouver club scene!

after all the partying is done, the skytrain isn't running anymore after 1:15am so we either have people paying up the ass to cab home or drive wrecklessly drunk around town. if you're not going to extend club hours to 5am or 6am so that people can consider catching the early skytrain ride home, at least extend skytrain service on weekends to 3am.

im done with the scene here, i save my money for concerts and shows at places like the commodore or i just save up for vacations so i can party in other cities that actually have good night life.

ginger62 ftw

nice crowd, decent cover charge and hot ladies everywhere

Ginger is the one on granville next to the Ramada right? That place is awesome, only been there one time and had this butterface cougar flirt with me and rubbed her huge breasts on me. I'd totally go back but my lame friends insist on going to teeny-boppying, TNA wearing clubs. The chicks at Ginger are way classier and mature.

I agree that bartenders shouldn't be pricks. Anyone in a service industry should strive to provide amazing customer service, but like in any venture where humans are involved, mistakes will be made and the product will vary depending on the day.

Having said that, of course you can't compare clubbing in Vancouver to party destination cities. The most fun I've had at clubs has been in Miami and/or Shanghai, however I disagree with anyone that says that clubbing in nice Vancouver clubs is no fun. It is fun, if you know how to make it fun, and you have the means to make it fun.

Vancouver liquor board rules prevents clubs from leaving the bottle with you. I agree this sucks. Although this is sometimes nice since the hostess has to pour your drinks. Never seen an ugly VIP hostess so far

the thing is if i treated my customers like clubs treat their customers. my family would be broke. its not all ppl that work in clubs im talking about. but the select few that are assholes. the entire night is ruined and you go away thinking about the bad stuff and not the tons of good stuff.

at the end of they day though. im gonna keep on hitting clubs here till im wayy too old or wayy to broke. sadly i tend to think with my cock more than i think with my head and they got girls there. those girls have the potential to be my wife...................

for that one night. :)
