Linden after the 95 season, no not so much. As much of a great guy he is he has never accomplished anything beyond that 94 season where we had a superstar forward and a all-star goalie. You can argue it was him that got us to the finals that year but I will always remember that overtime goal by Bure in game 7 agaisnt the Flames.

I'm not saying Linden shouldn't have been honored by the team but I'm saying he hasn't done anything Naslund hasn't.

Don't forget, Linden was also president of the NHLPA for 8 years. That wouldn't be a job I'd do "for fun"... He played a direct role in trying to resolve the lockout.

So off the ice, Linden has done more for the city (and league) than Naslund. No disrespect to Naslund though.

Hondaracer 11-19-2009 09:12 AM

How can you say naslund and linden are equals on the ice? Linden acomplished quite a bit more.

Also if naslunds number was to be retired I think there are enough fans in this city who would disagree with that move to make the celebration very uncomfortable

Wow...that is...wow. There's NO WAY that isn't a goal. People are arguing that the ref had intent to blow the whistle before the goal.

There's no "intent" to blow the whistle either. Why would he? There's no stoppage in play prior to the goal. The Wings were absolutely ROBBED of a goal. There's no excuse for this and the refs should straight up apologize for this one.

MR_BIGGS 11-19-2009 11:05 AM

At least the refs disallowed the goal..Unlike:

MR_BIGGS 11-19-2009 11:17 AM

It was for qualifiying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. France needed a tie to advance meaning Ireland needed a win. So France tied it up with that goal. Not only did he hand ball twice in that play, a France player was also offside for the free kick. After the match, he even admitted he handballed it, and said people should ask the ref on why he dropped the ball (no pun intended).

Harvey Specter 11-19-2009 02:31 PM

That's a fucked up call forsure but the France call was even more fucked up. Makes you wonder what country has Fifa in their back pockets.

Yes, but the leafs have tradition...the canucks are still young. As a fan, this team has no identity vs a lot of other teams in the leauge

BlackV62K2 11-19-2009 04:12 PM

2 hand balls + 2 offside France players and the goal was allowed lol. I wouldn't be surprised if that ref ends up beat up or dead.

MR_BIGGS 11-19-2009 04:40 PM

It is now 3-2 Laffs end of the 2nd...If Canes come back to win it...wow

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP)—British Columbia’s provincial health officer says Vancouver Canucks players jumped the line when they received swine flu vaccinations this week.

“If they got the vaccine and they weren’t in any of the risk groups as individuals then they were queue-jumping,” Dr. Perry Kendall said in an interview Thursday.

“I don’t know why they queue-jumped because they only had to wait a few days.”

The H1N1 vaccine will be made available to all British Columbians on Friday.

Swine flu immunizations in the province have been restricted to people over 6 months with chronic health conditions, pregnant women, people living in isolated communities, health care workers, first responders, and healthy children and adolescents between 6 months and 18 years old.

Last week, Health Canada gave clinics and doctors across the country permission to start using some doses of H1N1 vaccine on the general public. But the final decision on when to do that lies with individual provinces and territories.

Canucks coach Alain Vigneault denied after practice Thursday any wrongdoing by his team.

“It was always our intention that once the vaccine was made available to the public that our players would have the opportunity to take it if they wanted it,” he said. “My understanding is it’s been made available to the public. That’s all I know.”

Canucks general manager Mike Gillis declined to be interviewed. A team spokesman wouldn’t say how many players were vaccinated or if the immunizations were made available to the rest of the team’s staff.

The Calgary Flames were heavily criticized last month when players and their families received the H1N1 vaccine while thousands of Albertans waited in lines that stretched for hours.

Two Alberta Health Services employees were eventually fired for helping set up the private clinic.

What bullshit. Anyone can take it once it becomes public. If it's for high risk people only, why weren't the turned away?

Hondaracer 11-19-2009 04:47 PM

who gives a shit, i guarantee you the canucks paid for it and it's not like they took the supplies that would have otherwise went to the public, im sure they went to a private clinic etc.

so stupid..

also, in terms of straight business, losing Luongo for 2 weeks because of the flu costs the canucks alot more then joe-shmo missing 2 weeks digging a ditch..

Because private interests are in mind.

Canucks organization: "You hook us up, we'll see what we can do about getting you to that hockey game in the Best Buy Club."

Doctor: "Sounds good to me, let me just tell that pregnant women to come back later"

Sure the optics of it don't look good, but shit like this always happens. Are people surprised? I'm surprised it took them this long to get it.

Ronin 11-19-2009 04:55 PM

No one gives a fuck. H1N1 is all hysteria anyways.

Roach 11-19-2009 04:57 PM

I agree wholeheartedly. Just found the article and thought I would share.
