Mario probably snuck in sid's room and took it while he was sleeping

I hope that Mat doesn't return given the choice of free agent being available right now

Tim Budong 06-21-2009 04:04 PM

lets look at the upcoming draft over anything else

I truely believe the Islanders will pick hedman due to the fact that how often does a Defenceman his size and skill come around? Mark Striet has been anything but advertised, and the islanders have Kyle Okoposo to sorta lead the future for them.

Of course, TAMPA would definatly LOVE to draft hedman as they are in desperete need of a D man.

he brings alot more for 3-4 million than the same FA's that we could sign for a similar price.

woob 06-21-2009 05:57 PM

If we could somehow manage Duchene I would shit rainbow colored happy bricks

Mats does bring a lot to the table and imo Gilis would be nuts not to sign Mats for $2-$3 million but I suspect if Sundin does want to play next season, he'll be looking for a lot more and who knows, there might be a team out there willing to pay him top dollar.

It is hard to say if there are that many takers out there.
For one, given his older age, and limited performance at the end of last season, I don't think there are that many GM's out there that are willing to give Mats that high of a contract. For 3-4 M based off of an 82 game season I can see, any more I don't.

Look at what NYR gave Naslund. Look at how much Gillis gave Demitra. How much did Tkachuk get on his 1 year extension? I am willing to be it is less than $4M given $2.15 M this year.

I like Mats, and I think he still has some gas in the tank, but after what we saw last year, I don't think any GM will take the chance to give him THAT much money, again.

JKam 06-21-2009 06:57 PM

If Mats was to take a pay cut isnt it only less 10% of what he made last year? Isn't there a rule with paycuts..?

Derek_N84 06-21-2009 06:58 PM

^ I forgot the source but didn't Mats state if he were to come back next season it would only be for the Canucks ?

According to Jason Botchford's (Vancouver Province) Twitter page (www.twitter.com/botchoncanucks), Marian Gaborik has purchased a house in Vancouver and Roberto Luongo is building property in Nicola Valley.

Wow.

Hondaracer 06-22-2009 03:54 PM

^ hmm interesting..

d1 06-22-2009 04:00 PM

Demitra was just visiting last year and look what happened - we signed him to a 2 year deal. With Gaborik buying property here... who knows what that could result in..

MR_BIGGS 06-22-2009 04:01 PM

That is interesting...aren't him and Demitra really good pals

There's no secret Gaborik wants to play in Vancouver so I wouldn’t be too shocked if he really did purchase a house here but I am surprised about Lu building a house. I guess Lu's wife has fallen in love with Vancouver because of the long stretch of nice weather we've had.

AzNightmare 06-22-2009 05:19 PM

lol. If that happens, looks like Sedins are gone then.

I wouldn't be suprised if Gaborik took a 1 or 2 year deal for 3-4mill a year to play here.

Harvey Specter 06-22-2009 05:58 PM

Too lazy to search this but what's his contact with the Wild? Is he a FA this summer?

d1 06-22-2009 06:06 PM

Gaborik will be a UFA this summer
