Nice ceremonies. Exceeded my expectations. Not over the edge. No shame. Good looking people of Vancouver. At least from what I saw on the telecast.

I truly think the adults from around the world who saw this were impressed. Aside from the one glitch, it was good. Now let's cheer our guys on for some gold!

GO, Canada, GO!!!!!!!

It's forgotten about already. The games will start and the athletes will put on an awesome show. They will shine. Doesn't matter what country in the end. Great stories to come. Stories of heroics, good will, sportsmanship, etc.

Overall pretty good. that fucking up of the MOST IMPORTANT PART of the ceremony will be talked about for a long time ... but the storytelling for such a vast nation was pretty good.

I too had to keep wiping a tear from my eye!

MG1 02-12-2010 09:28 PM

Damn, they're showing that accident again. Poor track design, IMHO. No padding or wall, at such a corner.

Athletes are saying the track is too fast and too challenging. Wow.

valent|n0 02-12-2010 09:33 PM

I am surprise the fatality video is still available
don't they usually take videos like this off to respect their family?
although it's hard to take video that's been on the internet offline.

Is the outside Olympic Cauldron going to be lit for the duration of the games at the waterfront?

goo3 02-12-2010 09:38 PM

were the fireworks at bc place real?

fliptuner 02-12-2010 09:38 PM

johny 02-12-2010 09:47 PM

WTF was with the French first, English translate BS. this isn't the Quebec games.

the signing of O canada was horible too.

Hondaracer 02-12-2010 09:56 PM

Inside BC place I didn't even realize there was a problem until a CBC reporter asked me questions outside

Official language of the IOC is French, so french is 1st priority in any olympic event.

As for the Luge tragedy... I don't get why they left those poles exposed... I thought that all sliding tracks had high walls around it... and even higher walls around the bends? The wall at whistler where the crash took place looked pretty low...

I believe it is because French is one of the official languages, if not the main language of the Olympics.

And I agree with you 100% on the rendition of O' Canada. Lavallee must be rolling in his grave right now.

I hope the rendition of our national anthem when played at the award ceremonies is better than those from past Olympics.
