Nelly Furtado and Brian Adams Lip Sync FTL... SAD

InvisibleSoul 02-12-2010 10:28 PM

My thoughts:

Epic failure on the fourth pole not going up for the lighting of the cauldron. It's only the most important part of the ceremony...

Minor failure on the flags just before the cauldron lighting... I think they were supposed to be flapping, but the Olympics flag was barely half showing, and the Canada flag was totally stuck wrapped around the pole.

Surprising lack of security around the truck Gretzky was riding on... those people that ran alongside it got some serious camera time... seen by hundreds of millions of people.

Nitpicking now are we?

I'll join in.

I got a kick out of the fake bows they gave out to the fiddlers. Never seen so many frayed bows. Made in China props?

I was so hoping for a wardrobe malfunction - Nelly Furtado. My god, she has some serious curves. Maybe it's the colour blue.

Regarding the Luge, The bends ARE made to be more enclosed (so they can ride up the walls) and as far as I can tell they probably met all existing regulations.
If you look closely as he rounds the bend he`s WAY too high and already in trouble. Its when he comes back down, the sled bucks hard or impacts the inside wall and then he gets flipped and thrown off.

They can plan for a every eventuality but it`s always the one that gets through that no one thinks of.
When they built it they probably had no idea it would be like that. They`ve already said a hundred times over that the track is performing above what they ever expected. Is there anything they can really do to it right now, probably not.

It`s just a tragedy in its own, I don`t think we can really blame anyone. We were out to design the biggest and best, and we did. It was better than some athletes could handle and that is the tragedy.

RIP.

I have a few questions about the luge track:

Who's responsible for the final design of the course? IOC?

A few interviewed said the track is too fast? Is it, compared to other tracks?

Is it feasable to retrofit a fence around certain areas coming out of corners like that?

was going to say that, too. Sound, picture, even commentators are better. Sad, but we have to look to another country to bring us better covereage of the opening ceremonies.

However, the games themselves are usually better on Canadian networks. At least it's been that way in the past.

carisear 02-12-2010 10:56 PM

better angles, less cutouts to the same damn canadian face in the stands .. so far i've noticed they don't tell the full backstory that ctv did ... but overall it's a better presentation.

and yah i've heard the actual sporting events canadian stations do that better.

they said it was the steepest track ever used so the speeds are higher.
