So is anyone still riding now that it's fall? I rode today and last Saturday, definitely need leg warmers and a better jacket, it's cold out!

I just got back from LA and went for a ride earlier this evening.

I'm comparing apples to oranges but good lord, it is FREEZING here!

Been riding into school lately.

Picked up a set of water proof pants, might get some bootys still too. I ride in shorts all year long, hardly ever get cold enough for anything longer.

Just put some fenders on the CAADX... Looks ugly man.

Nice. That's a serious commute.

I've been using NorthFace running pants that are wind proof, some taped seams, and a bit waterproof. They work well... bought them up in Whistler during a sale for around $65.00.

They definitely get soaked through in huge downpours...

just got an email from Rapha re: new dope ass cold weather gloves. so sick.

604CEFIRO 09-25-2013 09:49 AM

Yea bro... i didnt wanna mention it cuz everyones gonna scream TOO BALLER... but yea man. super sick.

I already have the Gore Countdown GLoves from last year, which appears to be similar features as Rapha's Deep Winter gloves.

I'm interested in the Merino glove and the Winter Glove combo tho...

[edit] Apply a 10% coupon on top of the Bundle price and it's actually not bad pricing considering free shipping.

bcrdukes 09-25-2013 10:04 AM

Too baller.

Ok, on a more serious note, on yesterday's ride, only the first 5 - 10 minutes of the ride was cold. I started my ride at 6:30pm and once I warmed up, I was ok.

My gear consisted of:

Sugoi MidZero arm warmers (do not use these in the winter - they WILL NOT work.)
Merino wool base layer (yes, it helps - a lot.)
Jersey and bib shorts
No gloves
No leg warmers (good for maybe first 10 mins I would think)
Cap & helmet
No overshoes or anything like that

Once warmed up, I could have opted to peel off the arm warmers and the cap but it was a short 1 hour ride so I didn't bother. I think when mid-October rolls around, it's time to throw on the leg warmers and a pair of gloves for sure. But that's just me. YMMV.

I've been riding alot lately since I'm waiting for my car to be delivered. But I am also lazy so I bus half the way. I grab the 410 in steveston and I drop off at Viking & cambie then ride to the gym (sports central) then after my workout I ride to Costco, go to work. Then after work I ride back home to steveston. It's actually a really nice ride since they built that new path up railway.

I ride a heavy ass DH full travel bike. Riding the 12km home isn't super taxing, but if definitely isn't a speed run :p

first day wearing a jacket and pants for my work commute since the 'season' started.

:tears:

summer 2013 was good to me

Another breakdown in Stanley Park. What did I ever do to you stanley!!!! This time my chain got sucked up into the spokes really bad. Walked it over to a bike shop, "Don't bother trying to get it undone, just take the cassette off." After about a ten second look, he said "Yeah, thats really bad" haha. Once I got rolling again I decided not to head to the North Shore, and just completed a Stanley loop. 3:02 for Prospect Point. So bloody close.

dat_steve 09-25-2013 01:23 PM

the RD throw your chain in the wheel or something?

bcrdukes 09-25-2013 01:53 PM

I hope the cage isn't bent or anything serious.

This was the aftermath of my crash:

How does Rapha long sleeve jerseys fit? Compared to Sugoi and Castelli?

The 10% coupon and free shipping makes merino wool not that bad of a pricing..

hud 91gt 09-25-2013 02:50 PM

The chain is hooped, waiting for a new one in the mail. So in sure it has some side to side play, maybe needs a little adjustment too.

Looking at the Long Sleeve Country Jersey

Whats the deal with all the stock being sold out? Does Rapha produce limited runs?

bcrdukes 09-25-2013 07:25 PM

Rear derailleur cable came off during a ride earlier. Luckily I had my multi-tool with me or else I would have been GG'd in the 11-tooth cog the entire way home.

604CEFIRO 09-25-2013 10:27 PM

That one is a quater zip if you're okay with it

I have a Rapha Brevet jersey which is similar cut to the Country Jersey except mine has a full length zip and other features.

Sizing is accurate to what they advertise. They have a Sizing guide on the side of the page

Rapha's classic jerseys and long sleeve jerseys are more of a relaxed fit compared to their pro team line which is skin tight.

The strava castelli jersey I own fits tighter than rapha classic/long sleeves but not as tight as rapha pro team.

I would say follow Rapha's fit guide.
