All the wand washes I know of in vancouver are outdoor, so their hoses/piping leading to their wands are all susceptible to freezing.

If you look at northern towns all the wand washes are inside of heated buildings. you drive through an overhead door to get inside and then wash your car. Unless you see something like that somewhere, they will likely all be closed as temperatures go below zero.

Similarly even automated car washes often dont have heat inside their booths so most of those will be closed as well (i'm thinking like the ones setup in gas stations. I'm sure Shine Auto Wash will be open still.

At least in Vancouver the Esso on Marine Dr and Fraser's carwash has been open the entire time.

Yah, sun is out, blue skies with some clouds. Good job meterologists!

There's an indoor wand wash at the Esso on North Rd in Coquitlam. It's my go-to in the winter but they do close sometimes.

Sigh never can trust our weathermen

tegra7 12-18-2022 04:36 AM

Few flakes coming down now.

Doubl3_H 12-18-2022 06:42 AM

Huge flakes right now in deep cove :woot2:

whitev70r 12-18-2022 06:50 AM

Heard thunder this morning ... just enough snow on the roads to make driving a bit challenging for those without snow tires. And still coming down steadily.

^^ I actually prefer that hhaha. Roads are not bad at all.

Qmx323 12-18-2022 10:58 AM

Just enough to make people say "nah" but not enough for your tires to go "NAAHHHHH!!!"

mikemhg 12-18-2022 11:23 AM

Fuck we have tickets to Avatar 2 in Langley Imax tonight.

We're out here in Burnaby, I assume it'll be a better idea to cancel the tickets for tonight? I have a feeling the highway could be a shitshow this evening?

StylinRed 12-18-2022 11:29 AM

Likely won't be snowing by then but it'll be cold af

MarkyMark 12-18-2022 11:55 AM

It'll probably be fine. Sunday night I can't imagine too many people will be out on the roads and it should have stopped snowing by then.

eclipseman 12-18-2022 01:06 PM

-9 tomorrow. Ice rinks everywhere if you're heading to work...

whitev70r 12-18-2022 01:51 PM

Yah, there was already a layer of ice underneath this morning because it started with rain last night. Looks like this snowfall/consequences will linger for a good part of the week

EvoFire 12-18-2022 02:43 PM

There's a layer of wet dense snow underneath that's gonna freeze over starting right now. If you don't shovel right now then just leave the white fluffy stuff on top so it can provide a bit of grip.

I spent 2 hours shoveling this morning, the snow is fine, the wet under layer was so back breaking.

Then I took my son out for a drive to the store. It's actually quite drifty and fun out on the family bus. Until you realize you can't stop
Lot's of "what is gray car doing?" from my son as we went sideways around some corners.

Badhobz 12-18-2022 05:07 PM

better off saving it for Tuesday or Thursday.

radeonboy 12-18-2022 06:24 PM

Drove the 99 between Vancouver and Delta an hour ago, saw two cars in the ditch, 1 car flipped over, and the truck behind me fishtailing (and thankfully recovered).

Stay safe out there if you're driving!
