i asked about that at the recruitment centre, he said they never used to acknowledge corrective eye surgery, but he says they do now.

I have personally met some pilots that have had laser correction surgery, FWIW none of them were on fighters but that may or may not be a coincidence.

Some very cool Space Shuttle shots here:

on a side note, i read that you need to have perfect vision to become a pilot. does it need to be natural 20/20 vision or do they accept those who have had laser eye surgery as well?

I had laser surgery. I had the PRK and not Lasik. When I went to the recruitment center they said, like they told you raiden, they used to not allow it but now it's fine.

The fear I remember hearing was something about heavy g-forces causing the eyes to revert back to how they were or something like that.

As far as civil aviation goes you're allowed glasses, I flew with glasses for a year.

A few of the guys here wear glasses. It's rare, but possible.

My dad is in Las Vegas at the ICAS Convention (International Council of Air Shows). One of his connections within the training system of the RCAF informed him that we are now 250 pilots short. Plans are to start sending people to the US so the pilot position might get blown wide open in 2012. Fingers crossed........

i think that was regarding the one where they cut a flap to access the cornea. the concern was the flap reopening under high g stresses.

He's not, he's a performer :joy:

Check this thing out:

Iran Shows Alleged U.S. Stealth Drone on TV.
An aircraft that appears to be the highly sensitive American stealth drone lost in Iran looks intact and with little visible damage in new video broadcast on Iranian television today. The cream-colored RQ-170 Sentinel is shown sitting on display in front of a patriotic Iranian poster as two uniformed military men examine the drone's radar-eluding batwing frame.
The Iranian military claims it downed the drone through a cyber attack as it was flying through Iranian airspace last week. U.S. military officials said the drone was not flying over Iran, but rather in western Afghanistan, and suffered an innocent malfunction before gliding into Iranian airspace.

Lockheed Gets $4 Billion for 30 F-35s

http://defensetech.org/2011/12/09/lo...-for-30-f-35s/

So our buy of 65 worth around $9billion seems about right. However ours will cost less per airframe and that $9billion also includes everything associated.
