No.

Get the proper Mini DisplayPort (aka MDP or Thunderbolt) connector to whatever your monitor has.

Apple does not use Mini HDMI, the shape is drastically different.

The new MacbookPro is fucking BEAST

Gh0stRider 06-11-2012 09:43 AM

16gb ram

$2199

Tim Budong 06-11-2012 09:45 AM

so...guess its tme to put the mac up for sale

Simplex123 06-11-2012 09:46 AM

Oh wow retina display is only on the 15" and starts at 2199. Probably gonna be on the rest of the MacBooks at a lower cost next year.

LiquidTurbo 06-11-2012 09:54 AM

Omg pricey but AWESOME

Teh Doucher 06-11-2012 10:17 AM

so dope but soooo expensive

Senna4ever 06-11-2012 11:18 AM

No 17", no care.

Simplex123 06-11-2012 11:22 AM

Kind of dumb that they only include HDMI with the 15" retina display model

ddr 06-11-2012 11:31 AM

so the retina 15" doesn't have a graphics switcher? if it doesn't affect real world battery life i guess that's an improvement ...

XTC_604_DKNY 06-11-2012 12:25 PM

do you all think the retina display is worth the $400 difference?

Senna4ever 06-11-2012 12:27 PM

^^^ If you're a graphic artist, yes, but I would much rather have a 17" display with that same resolution. It looks like Apple has killed the 17" MBP (which I was afraid of) entirely - fuckers.

Culverin 06-11-2012 12:38 PM

Awesome.
As much as I don't like Apple, I can't really complain that they sit on their laurels as market leader.

They just made every single ultrabook pale in comparison.

Now if only I could get a 27"+ monitor with resolution like that :okay:

Canadian Rider 06-11-2012 01:10 PM

just waiting for reviews to see how hot it gets during gaming.. hopefully the new fan placement will help!

artmotion 06-11-2012 01:32 PM

I still can't believe how hot my 2011 MBP 13 inch gets when I'm doing regular tasks... What kind of temperatures are you guys getting?

Senna4ever 06-11-2012 01:37 PM

Regular tasks not hot - warm, but not hot. When I do photo & video editing with the dedicated video card enabled, the cores can reach 109 degrees C, and the bottom of the laptop gets very toasty.

JKam 06-11-2012 01:57 PM

Regular gets uncomfortably warm. Playing D3 gets HOT, hot enough that I could probably cook and egg. 2011 MBP 15inch.

Whatcha mean? It has both the HD4000 and the 650M.

threezero 06-11-2012 02:14 PM

Man the new MacBook pro is beast!! Finally gonna replace my 6 yr old Mbp with this new model.

Anybody know if I buy the Mbp from hong kong if it's possible to get them to give me the us plug end instead of the uk style plug ends?

Not from my experience. But if you need the end, you could just buy it online for cheap:

the new MBP is seriously awesome...but i probably won't expect to game anything higher than low-medium settings for the GTX 650M to drive 2800x1800

What's the problem, just get an external monitor!

But then they wouldn't be able to call it "Retina Display" and people wouldn't go "oh this app doesn't say it is the Retina Version, so I will have to switch to Apple's software"

Because I'd look foolish hauling a 27" monitor to a Waves cafe.

If you were going to do that, why would you spend $2200 on a laptop when you could get a more powerful desktop for less than half that?
