Completely unrelated.

Didn't we have a 3-something earthquake not so long ago?

Highly unlikely that it will cause any significant damage around here. Possible but most of the energy will dissipate before it gets here and the rest will be absorbed by Vancouver Island.

TheNewGirl 03-11-2011 04:57 AM

Wow yeah I was just watching the Tsunami warning for the coast here. They're talking to people in Hawaii where it hit 20 minutes ago it's insane that it could effect that far but the first surge wasn't too terrible there so it should be largely petered out by the time it gets here (between 7 and 8 am).

Tillerz 03-11-2011 04:57 AM

200-300 bodies found near Sandai, where tsunami waves washed over.

also reports saying water levels receeding in hawaii, leading to speculations that this is a sign that a big wave is on its way. =\

Makes you wonder how many of those highrises in DT are built with quake measures in mind.

for those trying to lighten the mood - understandable but learn to pick the right time. Not everyone is going to find your jokes funny. Id like to see you laugh if you or a member of your family could possibly be in danger.

for those trolling - how would you feel if i said "oh lets see some hot pics of your mom or sister" that's trying to survive to live.

seriously, if you are not matured enough to make serious comments on a serious issue, then just dont say anything or crack the joke at your dog or hamster who doesnt give a shit. Be more sensitive to these people who are worried to death over their loved ones. Once again, put yourself in their shoes and if you do and you still think your act is justifiable then i feel sorry for you because your obviously

:alone:

I used up all of my fails for today in this thread, mostly on Arash. I know he'll be fine if we get a tsunami here. If he hasn't drown in the gallons of semen which have been pumped down his throat he won't drown from seawater.

Vancouver Island is somewhat of a buffer for those of us located on the coast, and fortunately it's population is mostly on the east coast of the island. The groups of islands to the northeast and southeast of the island may serve to protect the GVRD as well.

CNN has been talking about how the water's energy might serve to wrap around the Hawaiian Islands and do more damage than expected, however. That makes me worry. Does anyone here know the science behind that?

danned 03-11-2011 06:26 AM

holy shit, poor japan, they need time to rebuild the country
so, no AV for you guys :lol

.Renn.Sport 03-11-2011 06:43 AM

I'm quite impress with the fact that it seems there are no report of mass robbery and rioting. people still line up to pay at the super market.

Rogue951 03-11-2011 06:46 AM

Yeah, good on their part for being calm and collected.
When it hits here it`s going to be everyone for themselves. No such courtesy here.

ae101 03-11-2011 06:48 AM

earthquake in japan is nothing, its the tsunami there more worried about right now as that rarely happens in japan

hk20000 03-11-2011 06:55 AM

I wonder how many of our newly built condos will last a 8.9 quake....

Wooden buildings I'm not too worried about.

Oh but forget it a tsunami hitting Richmond = game over.

gdoh 03-11-2011 07:01 AM

^i doubt anything major will happen to vancouver or richmond as a result of this
