Im just looking for some similar type of features with symbian

like the always on screen (sleeping screen) which shows a clock/notifications/pictures (its customizable and you can select as many images as you want they rotate)

I read that Android has something called Daydreams which is essentially the same thing but I read that Daydreams only goes on when the phone is docked/charging (and the only threads i could find discussing this are almost a year old)

Is there anything that's always on in place of a blank standby screen?

this is what i mean by Nokias Sleeping Screen

Might want to take a look at this @ 3:56

There are apps that you can get that will mimic this feature, but you want to be careful what kind of phones you use it on, can be a battery killer if you dont have an AMOLED screen.

Been using mixbit to combine a bunch of video clips that play seamlessly, up to 256 clips according to the details.
It's been a fun way to combine my kids hockey video clips to play as one video.

here's a video of an early beta version

I love the feature so am hopeful that I can find something exactly like it

I use Dynamic Notifications.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...enotifications

It only really works well on an OLED screen though - because it only needs to light those specific pixels - rather than the whole screen... Only downside - notifications like gmail/google hangout/facebook - that disappear automatically if you check them on another device - won't disappear with this app. I like it though.

I'm looking for some new apps to try out
what are your top used (unique, non stock) apps?

mine:
google drive
doubletwist (music player)
google keep (note pad)
songza
sleeptime (monitors sleep cycle)

Someone please recommend me a GOOD, SIMPLE TO USE file transfer program to transfer photos + video from my S3's storage to SD Card storage

I tried using Astro and ES File Explorer, but they're complicated as hell, and I can't even find the directories properly

Thanks in advance, MUCH APPRECIATED

akira112 12-11-2013 01:06 PM

Can't you transfer via PC?

EndLeSS8 12-11-2013 01:32 PM

I can but there are some file transfer problems, it's been really annoying.
When I select everything, it only transfers a small portion of the files, like about 20% of the files.

!MiKrofT 12-11-2013 07:30 PM

Solid Explorer?

jaywoo 12-12-2013 12:52 AM

wats a good app for emails? stock email app wont sync anymore unless i refresh

!MiKrofT 12-12-2013 01:55 AM

K9 is the best free alternative. Otherwise there's maildroid pro which is pretty expensive.

areyounoob 12-12-2013 08:26 AM

Would AirDroid work?

My phone doesn't have an SDcard, but it always does the trick for me whenever I'm transferring files from my PC to my phone.

How does Doubletwist compare to the standard Google Music app? I use Google Music to play music, but on my tablet I did install Doubletwist just so my Xbox could stream music from it. Never actually used the Doubletwist app itself.

What battery saving apps do you guys use? (free or paid)

!Yaminashi 01-02-2014 01:17 AM

Anyone using widget locker?

I can't figure out how to remove apps from the left bezel swipe. There is no dedicated option to remove either

I used it. It has potential I think, but I didn't like it much right away. I feel like it's something that requires some customization before it's actually useful. PM me your email if you like, I believe I still have some invites left.

Edit: Nvm.

New Question: Anyone know of any good apps for getting texts/whatsapp etc to popup or show on your lock screen so that you don't need to unlock the phone everytime?

Im using Desk Notes and its nice but just wondering what those more familiar with android use
