Didn't know of the employee price drop until now.

Definitely going to keep mine now that it's $64.99. I'll get lots of use out of it for the price of a video game.

Fondle: HP Touchpad - The Digital Reader

I don't know how it is now, but the demo SW they have on it at Best Buy is pretty horrific - compared to the competition. But I definitely want one for $100 :fullofwin:

LOL I love how people who don't own the product keep commenting on the Touch Pad's quality based on online reviews.

For $60-$150...regardless of which end of that spectrum you paid, the device works wonderfully for many uses. No one in their right mind can logically buy this product and expect it to COMPETE with an iPad or an Android tablet.

However, multi-tasking works like a charm, You Tube works like a charm, browsing on it with flash, not a problem. Want to play one of the most popular mobile games, Angry Birds? Not a problem. Any problems with Skype, nope, none! No longer have a use for it? Turn it into a picture frame. Either way, for $100, you cannot find another device that does the above listed things well. I've had this Touch Pad for a little over a week now and have yet to have any complaints about it. Other than the fact that the apps are limited, this is a great overall device.

Either way, rather than reading online reviews of a device that EVERYONE knows has been abandoned, pick one up and make your own decision. So far, in this thread, only one person has had a complaint. Others seem to be pleasantly surprised with the performance and bargain that they received.

Now excuse me while I go try out Spankwire on this tablet...

I'm actually trying to get one myself because of the price and the potential for porting android onto it.
I'm sure it works fine and for $100 it's totally worth being able to lie on my couch surfing the web and watching videos :).

Just thought it was a funny review (remember it was $399). I'm not making any comments myself about it. :)

ForbiddenX 08-20-2011 01:34 AM

^Exactly. It's not bad for what most people really need it for. Like I said my girlfriend loves it, all she uses it for is for internet, skype, and a few games.

It's really not bad for what you get. You can barely get anything for $100 that can do everything that a TouchPad can.

I'm hoping for it to support Android and if that happens it'll be a pretty good device.

dj bally 08-20-2011 01:34 AM

just opened my touchpad gotta say its a wicked internet browser. I plan on putting android soon homebrew FTW!

LiquidTurbo 08-20-2011 04:36 AM

I find it funny that the cases are like 59.99. I would say that I'm pretty happy with the device for the price that was paid. What a bargain!

its only $100 bucks now cuz it sucked and being discontinued after 1 and a half month

if it was so great, it would've been still selling at $399

I'm now laughing at the apple haters that brought one at launch.

dangonay 08-20-2011 06:19 AM

^ With price guarantees at many stores a lot of people should be able to go back and get a refund of the difference. In fact, in a case like this I think every person who bought one would be eligible for a refund if they complained.
